Throw gobs of money at Pete Carroll and force him to pull away from USC

He's got the NFL experience, albeit not very good, and he's the perfect candidate to relate to the leagues 2nd youngest team.

Neither will be the coach. Adam is speculating, especially on Dinger. He is the guy who told Marshall he would never be a number 1 WR in this league.

Notice he says not one candidate they hgve zeroed in. In the end they will have crossed Fassel and Dinger off that list. Why fire Shanny to bring in those hacks.

I hadn't either and then on the phone today Montrose told me about it. It was Marshall who said it in an interview. Montrose doesn't make stuff up so I trust he said it.

I hear ya...they just mentioned them because they were 'former' Bronco coaches....wow, almost anybody could name drop those guys. Nice work Adam!!

I could only imagine the outrage on this site if they brought in one of those 2 guys to be the coach. Theirs a reason no other team in the league wants Fassell.

Shefter has ties with the organization, i'm willing to bet money that when they DO choose a coach, he will be the one of the first if not the first media guys to know.

Adam spent about 5 minutes talking and had nothing to say. I hate when all they do is tell you crap you already know.

They are looking for a winner (really?)
The search will not be short, but they will look at every option (really?)
They will look at Offensive and Defensive minded coaches (as compared to what other kind of coaches?)

I mean, he literally spoke for 5 minutes and said nothing.

Adam Schefter is usually pretty good but I have to agree. What I was shaking my head at was 'the Broncos will come up with a coach that they feel is the best candidate to replace Mike Shanahan.' Ya think?

The firing is a big deal, in the media ring it's great for publicity. Do you really think Shefter or anyone else wanted to go on camera with absolutely nothing to say?

The only reason they do that ''news'' report by Shefter is because there's people out there that actually believe that the Broncos have a HC in place 8 hrs after the official press conference.

To say that Shefter is a dumbass for that bit is crazy - it's a news outlet and this is a hot topic.

Of course nobody believed he was going to say that Bowlen has a coach in the works.

i think Carroll is a product of having the best players in the country playing for the weakest conference in college football. Put him in the SEC and he doesn't have near as much success as he has had in the PAC 10

So HELL NO!!!

Exactly. I heard from a pretty good source the Broncos have been interested in Cowher for over a year now.
