Since all you "Non-Fanboys" are calling for Shanahan's firing, I guess its only fair to consider which NFL team will be lining up to HIRE coach Shanahan after the 2009 season when the Denver finishes 7-9 or 10-6, and looses in the first round in the playoffs.
Look no further than the SF49ers!!!! Yep you heard it here first!!! Mike Sinlgletary is only a stop gap measure for the 2009. The owners of the 49ers will use Singletary to instill toughness, professionalism, and the will to win and that's it. The 49ers brain trust will want to return to the glory years of high scoring offenses like how Bill Walsh executed the WEST COAST OFFENSE. There is non better out there who can do this than Mike Shanahan. Coach Shanahan would be taking over a team that is full of talent due to so many loosing seasons and drafting in the top 8 in the draft over the last 6 years!!!! We all know as fans what Shanahan can do with a team that reeks with TALENT. Should the 49ers pull the trigger and signs NE's QB Cassell for the 2009 season and the 2009 Broncos lay another egg!! Its not too far fetch to see Shanahan as a 49ers head coach in 2010!!! Hell maybe the 49ers organization can even talk Singletary to stay on DC. We as fans forget that in our lust for victories and very little patients to endure and stomach loosing seasons; we have been our own worst enemies by ensuring over the last 14-15 years, Denver has routinely drafted from 17th to 20 something in the draft. As a result, the Broncos were never in contention with drafting "Blue Chip" talent in the top 10 of the draft. Like it or not, coach Shanahan has given the Bronco fans a sense of believing that every year just could be a SB year over the last 10 years, although the last 3 years have been another story. That being said, 3 years ago, no true Denver fan can deny the SB aspirations WE all had when Denver hosted the AFC Title/Championship with a 13-3 record!!! Ummmm.....3 years seems such a short time ago. However, in the instant inpatient ungratified nation of football fans we have out there today, the 2005 AFC West Champion Broncos may as well have happened 10-15 years ago. That being said, once Shanahan is gone, how many Denver Bronco football fans both die-hard, loyal and band-wagon fans are ready to endure the Broncos becoming another SF49ers organization who have experienced loosing season over the 6 years or worst case scenario Denver becomes the Detroit Lions of the NFL!!!! DONT SAY IT CAN'T HAPPEN....B/C WE ALL KNOW IT CAN!! Believe me, I feel the frustrations and just as upset with the Broncos over the last 3 years, but firing Shanahan will not guarantee AFC west titles, going deep into the playoffs, or winning SB's....if you foolishly believe this, then I have some great stock advice for you from my stock broker at AIG and Baer Sterns. In fact over the last 3 years this Bronco team should have been averaging 4 wins a season alone. Shanahan was responsible for ensuring over the last 3 years, the Broncos have won 5 to 7 more games than they should have. But if you don't believe me, watch what happens if Shanahan leaves after the 2009 season! You will see the Broncos enduring 6 years (if we are lucky) of 4-6 win seasons. While this is going on, we could also be witnessing/ watching Shanahan leading the 49ers to a couple of SB appearances and wins during that same 6 year span. Remember, Shanahan isn't worried about being suddenly financially destitute b/c he's longer the head coach of the Broncos. He knows there will be opportunities to win elsewhere as a coach in the NFL, Shanahan just stubbornly believes he can still win in Denver and so far Pat Bowlen believes the same. |

Bull****. Singletary will probably be a good coach.
But you are right that Shanahan would be on the market for all of 5 minutes before someone would snatch him up, if he wanted to coach. |

I read about three sentences of that... I think if Shanny hit the open market he'd go to the Cowboys in a hurry..... and win a lot of games there.
I'm fine with keeping Shanahan, just make him bring in a real DC and hand over the defensive keys! |

If you think Shanny will hand over any control to anyone else or be cool with giving full reign to a new DC you are crazy. Shanny has his power and runs things himself, part of then reason the defense always sucks is he controls what is done there with the guys he brings in. This is an all or nothing thing, if you want true change the only way to get it will involve firing Shanahan.

Who gives a crap who hires him. Shanny will not take a job with out absolute control. So let him ruin that team as long as he's not with the Broncos. Besides, I think Shanny's next job is in college.

So Shanahan goes to SF (or anywhere else) !
They don't go anywhere but to 8-8 seasons as Shanahan continues his Quest for the magical and ever elusive Quarterback that can do it all! Hell, he'll probably try to poach Cutler away from us as soon as he can! Then he'll need the Running Back to seal the deal! Because he just needs that ONE or TWO magical players that can show his Mastermind status is unchanged. And after 2 or three repetitions of these players also fail, he gets canned there too. Face it....Elway made Shanahan better. Without John, Shanahan has been unable to get over the hump. He is a good coach that has too much ego and a high opinioon of himself. |

If we get to the point in the video, then I will say fire shannahan. Our worst years with Shanny we still are middle of the pack 8-8 , 7-9 team, and thats with a ton of injuries. I cant complain if our worst years with shanny are 8-8 and missing playoffs, when other teams are going 0-16 and 2-10. |

True. TD was the engine of the Ferrari. Shanhan drafted him...but even Shanny had no idea What it was when he took a flyer on a sixth round pick.
LUCKY! Fortune smiled on us and Shanahan that draft day. Since then....... |

You know that is a really funny line, I started to laugh out loud and then I realized that wasn't a nightmare --it actually happened. I have felt more violated only one other time in my 20+ years of Broncos fandom--SB 24. But then we were playing for ALL the marbles.
