Default Is It Time for NE to Trade Tom Brady

Would it be logical for the Patriots to Trade Brady and keep Cassell I don't think it would be far fetched and here's why.

Brady is getting older and coming off major knee surgery and its not guaranteed that he will comeback as his old self. Its already rumored that Brady will not be back to 100% before training camp starts.

Enter Cassell, he's an unrestricted free agent and NE cannot franchise tag him. Its estimated Cassell will be offered in the neighborhood of $40 million with $16 million in guarantees. No way does NE get into cap trouble to sign Cassell for this type of money to eventually go back to being Brady's back up! Cassell has proven that he can win games and he's younger and runs the ball allot better than Brady ever could prior to his knee injury.

Its rumored that NE could get/demand two number on draft picks from a team(s) who would be interested in trading for Brady.

We all know how much Belichek(sp) loves draft picks....and the NE defense needs and infusion of impact players.

There are several teams who could use a HOF three time SB champion on their roster. The 49ers come to mind, the NY Jets should Farve retire, there's the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins, hell---perhaps the Cowboys b/c Jerry Jones has Romo on a short leash, same goes for the Carolina Panthers as well.

NE and Belicheck deciding to Trade Tom Brady and signing Cassell is a very real possibility. Never Say Never.

Comments.....please!!

Haha, to me, I rank this idea right around "If Boyd is the real deal...."
I mean, i'm sure they have fans thinking that (like the way we have people who think we should trade champ). But the idea is ludicrous.

That would be right up there with Reeves trying to trade Elway in terms of sheer stupidity. And it won't happen.

One season doth not a career make. Look at Derek Anderson, Jay Fiedler, Scott Mitchell, etc. These guys stole a lot of money in Free Agency when the starter went down and they looked halfway decent. Someone will over pay for Cassell this offseason and the Pats should let them.

To be honest I wish Brady wouldn't have gotten injured this season. I think he was in for a big flop, he spent most of the offseason out of the country partying it up with Gisele. It was eventually going to catch up with him. I don't think the prick has the heart or will to get back to the form he was playing last season.

You are insane. Plain and simple.

The team that signs Cassell to a big contract this offseason will regret it soon enough.

Football 101...

You don't trade HOF QB's in their prime for draft picks.

Dumb Idea...

What if ]Matt Cassell continues to develop and even lead a deep playoff run. Could the Patriots tradeTom Brady? Wouldn't this trade lead to the biggest haul in draft picks since the Herschel Walker deal? Wouldn't the cap-savvy Patriots be able to bolster all of the team's current weaknesses with the cap relief received from moving Brady's contract?

Is it really a ridiculous thought, of course. However, if any team was willing to try something like this in all of sport, wouldn't you bet it would be the Patriots? The ultimate T-E-A-M team. If the Pats see Cassel as only a minor downgrade to their team, and by making a move could shore up every single other area, wouldn't they at least consider it? I bet they would.''

No ****. Brady is one of the most accurate passers I've ever seen. He's also one of the mostly highly tested vets in the QB ranks in the NFL - in other words - vastly experienced. I doubt his knee injury will affect that. If he doesn't retire a Patriot, they are idiots.

He's a sure fire HOF'er with 3 superbowl rings and just got done breaking a handful of NFL records in route to a 16-0 season... But lets trade him for a couple of draft picks.

For the hell of it Rastaman, why don't you bring up this idea on a New England board and let us know how it goes.

This will never die. It's a fun idea to toy with, but no way it happens. NE does need a solid vet to bring in to back him up though, cuss that knee won't be totally ready come Sept.

And in no way would Brady be traded to the Jets.

yes because as we all know tom brady desperately needed his athleticism, with this knee injury his 40 yard time will be destroyed.

Yes. With the picks they get from trading Brady they could draft Tebow and run the spread option that Brady made his pre-Pollard living on.

Man there is a reason I don't post here much anymore. Team in barely above .500 without Brady and he is probably untouchable due to his contract. Threads have been horrible lately.
