Clearing out dead weight - The Orange Mane

Question for Taco here:

Would clearing some of the "dead weight" (and I'm not referring to Bob) help the site run more smoothly? There are currently 4,323 members that haven't logged into the site in a year. I'd have to imagine clearing out those members would ease up the server.

Just a thought...

I agree. If they want to come back they can always create a new account.

I'm not sure what kind of an impact it would have on the server, but I agree with you from the standpoint of deleting inactive accounts would free up usernames for people who actually want to USE them...

Those names don't take up server resources - they only take up hard drive and we've got plenty of that to spare. I've thought about deleting inactives, but I've read that in some cases, doing that can destabilize the tables - so I've been reluctant to do it.
