Default Jeremy Bates was given a raise and a contract extension

Broncos offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates was given a raise and a contract extension after flirting with the University of Tennessee.

Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin presumably wanted Bates to run the Vols' offense and Bates was reportedly "seriously" considering it, but Denver's offer was too good. Bates also probably realized that Tennessee is far from guaranteed success in the SEC. Kiffin's got a strong staff, but has an uphill battle for both recruits and wins against NFL-caliber players.

I'm fine with keeping Bates. Considering how bad our defense is and how many yards/points we put up despite not getting the extra chances off of turnovers and field position other teams get I'd say he's doing a fairly good job.

And **** Slowik. Somebody should torch an orange and blue bag filled with dog **** on his door step. Merry Christmas.

I bet Bowlen is thinking about Bates as a replacement for Shanahan at some point down the line.

Bates is highly motivated now to provide a game winning offensive plan vs. the almighty SD chargers.

Great, Bates deserves it IMHO--serving as the liason between Shanny and Jay much as Kubes was for Jake.

I'm going to start a fund to pay to have Slowik run out of town after the season.

In the 2020 AFC Championship Game, Bates will lead the Broncos into Houston to take on the Texans and Kyle Shanahan.

Bates, IMO, has done very well for a rookie coordinator. In time, he may very well become one of the premier play callers in the NFL.

I remember Slap tried to warn us about slowik when Shanny first hired him. He predicted that slowic would replace Bates and would run the D to the bottom of the NFL.

Bates seems like he's doing a fine job. It would be a shame if he would have departed. Let's see if he gets offered the Raiders HC job and stabs the franchise in the back by accepting it.

Let's see, hmmmmmm........ Lynch retires in a huff, Champ and our 3 starting LBs miss 40 total games, our best pass rusher can't grip anything with his left hand ..... yeah, I agree! Blame Slowik!

I know some have questioned Bates' play calling, but he has done a pretty good job, considering the 7 RB's on IR...that simply is crazy!! So, he deserved a raise....where, most of the staff deserve to have a pay-cut!!

Well, Slowick has had to deal with injuries, and no talent at either defensive tackle, defensive end, and safety. Or a real middle linebacker. And our two best defensive players, DJ and Champ, were out for the entire middle of the season. And we kept signing different starting safeties off of other people's practice squads.

So while I'm not in love with Slowick, dude has been handed a crap pie and told to eat it this year. We have to completely rebuild this defense, and I don't think anyone could make our ragtag bunch look much better.

Winborn and Woodyard played well. Not superstars but certainly league average.

The DT's have been average, even good sometimes.

We're not the Lions here. Yeah we have some real ****ty talent at some key spots but we are not a bottom of the league defense when it comes to talent. He should be able to keep us in the low 20's at the very least. Especially with the offensive juggernauts in Oakland and Kansas City on the schedule twice each. Dude sucks and needs to go.

The defense actually improved after some of the starters went down. And at the time Champ went down, the team had a total of 2 INTs (one by a DT and the controversial one in the SD game). But moreso, when you repeatedly give up a 10 yard cushion on 3rd and 5, you undermine the pass rush and undermine a corners whose strengths are bump and run...so the left hand injury is moot. Slowik has made him a non-factor with his horrific scheming.

Do you even watch the games? Do you even watch anything besides the guy carrying the football?

Id like to see more of the deep throws. Ive often wondered why we dont throw deep more with Jays arm but lately I can kind of see why. He misses on his deep throws a lot. But Id like to see Jay work on this and it to become a bigger piece of the offense in the offseason.
