I'm not exactly sure. Maybe Dr. Bronc can come in here and talk about some stuff, but right now I'm having trouble going to the bathroom and the edema I have makes it hard for me to go anywhere without the swelling. It's just a bunch of symptoms, and I believe the underlying cause is some sort of kidney ailment (infection or disease) -- I might be wrong.

I'm not big on medical stuff, despite takin' a lot of Bio-Anthro like courses.

I just leave it to the Doc's.

Thanks once again guys. I go into the clinic tomorrow to meet the Urologist and probably will have a biopsy. I hope it all goes well.

Way to stay strong, very impressive. The role of the mind on whatever is going on is huge so staying mentally tough is necessary. I will send some prayers.

Req,

If I could give you any advice, it's to be your own advocate. Read as much about your disease, especially when you have your biopsy results..... so that you are as informed as possible. Every treatment has risks and benifits, and ultimately the choices in treatment should be yours (with consideration of the advice given by your physician). Best wishes to you.

As somebody who's been in a similar situation (age, unexpected illness) you'll learn to listen to your body. Like Doc said, be your own advocate. If something isn't right keep calling until they do something to figure it out. If they give up find somebody else. The only answer to never accept is no.

I know I have some good friends here and while I spend more time at other forums, I figured I'd keep some of you up to date with issues regarding my health. Over the past few months I haven't been able to urinate and digest my fluids and food as well as I would have liked to. I also had signs of peripheral edema (in my legs, and it's pitting edema -- which means tight clothes or anything touching my legs cause indentations, etc.) -- and after a long battle of not being able to move around as much as I'd like and function properly, I went in this past Friday and yesterday to get some tests done.

After a CBC, multiple UA's (doing another 24 hour one today -- urine analysis), a metabolic panel, X-Ray's and a THS -- preliminary results showed that I suffer from Nephrotic Syndrome, which is the cause of all the aforementioned symptoms and is usually associated with kidney failure and disease.

Tomorrow I will complete my 24 hour urine analysis; and see the kidney specialist. Pending the results and further findings from the test, I may undergo a renal biopsy to help further diagnose which disease in my kidney's I'm suffering from. Diabetes has been ruled out, because my blood sugar levels are very good. The X-Ray's showed no swelling in my heart and lungs, and my thyroid is just fine too. That is the good news.

I just have to wait for further tests and results to understand the direct cause of my Nephrotic Syndrome; before I can be given any medicine to start treatment. The NP and Doctor said that they didn't want to put me on anything until they knew exactly what is wrong with me.

I have a lot of strength right now mentally, through the support of family and friends. I broke down yesterday, but after getting the love and care I needed from everyone, my spirits are up -- and I'm confident after a final diagnosis that I will be able to beat whatever is hurting me and live the most normal life I can.

Any well wishes my way would be greatly appreciated. This isn't going to stop me at all. I will finish my college career and I will continue giving my insight on the NFL Draft here at the Orange Mane!

Yes, it stinks to be 21 and have some crazy health disorder come up in me when I've been a healthy individual all my life -- but that's the breaks. A lot of people have it worse, and I'm lucky to have all the people I have in my life. I am blessed.

Just thought I'd let some of my friends here know.

Take care and go Broncos.

The well wishes are all I need guys. I'm just so blessed to have insurance (federal insurance from my dad, but it's over when I'm 22 -- which sucks, but hey -- at least I got it until April!) and a great set of family and friends, and my online community family to help me out.

Believe me, the prayers and wishes you're sending my way give me strength and really help my attitude. I was down yesterday after the news, but being surrounded by good people and just getting to laugh (I've even laughed about what's going on with me!) and smile has been the best medicine in the world.

Thank you all -- and I promise to keep you up to date as much as I can!

Wow....I am floored. I am praying HARD for you, Req. Hopefully the tests come back well and they can find the proper medicine for you to control this. You'll be fine. I am definitely praying for you....all will turn out well, Chris.

Went to the Nephrology department and talked with the Doc and I'll undergo my renal biopsy on my kidney tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM. I am anxious and worried at the same time. I haven't ever had a procedure like this, heck any medical procedure for that matter -- and I ask once again for some well wishes and prayers for me at this moment.

I am in debt to everyone of you and am thankful that those who have responded are here for me.

Thank you so damn much.

Just a few minutes from going to MeritCare to get this underway. Had a lot of swelling last night, because I was dumb and ate salty foods because I knew it'd be a last time to really do it. I know I'll have to make major life changes after this. Still have a lot of swelling, even in my face which makes me look like a fat turd.

I'm nervous right now, my hands are shaking -- but I'm thinking of the people I love and a lot of good memories. It will help me get by. I hope to be discharged by noon today. I pray that everything goes all right.

I'll let you guys know what happens.

Well, getting a biopsy is completely harmless. They supposedly gave me some drugs to sedate me, but I didn't even feel anything. Spent more time waiting to get checked in that the whole procedure took. Watching a **** ton of TV, and called in the hot nurses that had to take care of me. 90% of the younger women in hospitals are fine. When I got taken back to wait before I went into the CT before the biopsy, this short haired little cutie and I hit it off.

She told me cute guys like me should have health problems more often, cause she's used to seeing the older dudes back there. At that point in time I wanted her to take the IV out of me and just go hog wild on top. . . but then they strolled me away. . .

I'll find the results out Monday when I make an appointment with the specialist who will analyze my results, hopefully everything will be figured out and I can start the treatment.

I actually liked being there today. Got my blood going. Hehe.

For real guys, I think the results are going to be good and I'm gonna tear this crap apart.

Thanks again.
