Im just curious to see what everyone thinks when it comes to various players potentially entering the draft vs going staying in school for the 2009 season.
I think Matt Stafford makes for an interesting example of this. He is a big talent and is projected by many places as a top 10 pick, but theres also a history of QBs having better careers if they stay all 4 years. I think Tebow is a better example of this though. I kind of think both DeMarco Murray and CJ Spiller should stay for another year. Granted they should also purchase an insurance policy like Willis McGahee was smart enough to do. I think with a healthy season, Murray could make his stock really rise. The problem is, obviously, that he also exposes himself to injury in doing this. But thats why I mentioned the insurance. In the case of Spiller, for the time that he has been at Clemson, he has been part of this Thunder & Lightning duo. For 2 of the 3 years he has been there it seems that he has seen himself as the lightning part rather than trying to evolve into both. He has tried to be more of an inside runner this year but the coaches dont really use him that way and its a bad year for this in that Clemson has had a lot of new faces on the OLine. So, in the case of Spiller, if staying one more year means evolving into an inside and outside runner, he could benefit in the long run. He has plenty of speed where he could put on a few pounds and still be incredibly fast. Jeremy Maclin should obviously come out with Chase Daniel leaving, as should any WR who would be playing with a new QB next year. Thoughts? |

What do you guys think Sam Bradford will do? Redshirt Sophomore, so he's eligible to declare.

Now that Emanuel Cook is academically ineligible, he'll likely declare. He's a big, hard-hitting SS who struggles a bit in coverage. That should bring more depth to the Safety class next year. I think we can pick a pretty good player in the 3rd or 4th round.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot draft eligibles come this year with the potential for rookie cap in the near future and CBA opt out

Tebow stay (if he wants to be drafted a QB)
Colt McCoy should have come out ... I can't imagine he'll raise his value any. His numbers this year peaked. Taylor Mays should come out. To Denver ![]() |

I like both Georgia players Stafford and Moreno. They are pro ready and Stafford reminds me a lot of Jay. Infact, stafford looks more polished and more consistent in his mechanics than Jay was when he came out. There is too much injury risk and risk of falling in the draft next season (hello Leinhart and Brohm) and both of them will go in the top 15.

I agree on Stafford, summer, mostly. I hope KC doesn't draft him.
I like Knowshon, he's a stud obviously, but for us anyway, we should draft ALL defense. These guys talking about a RB in the first round, that's crazy talk imo. Hillis and Torain need a real chance or carries, plus we have Pittman and three or four good 3rd down backs anyway. |

Auburn defensive lineman Sen'Derrick Marks said early Tuesday morning that he will enter the NFL draft, and announce it at a news conference later in the day.
Marks, a junior, said that he stands 6 foot 2 and recently weighed in at 302 pounds. "I can play both defensive tackle and defensive end," Marks said. "I want to be a player like Albert Haynesworth in the NFL. I know it's going to take hard work and dedication, but I'm going to bring my hard hat every day. I know that now, it's not just a game. It's a job. And I'm ready for that." |

I'm hoping Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma comes out early because I'd love to see us draft him in the 1st.

With a weak QB class, look for all eligable QB's to declare, especially with a rookie cap on the way.

Texas just doesn't teach guys fundamentals. Look at Crowder, he was dynamic when UT let him just go free and make plays. But in the pros where everyone is at or near the same talent level he just lacks the fundamentals to do anything other than the bull rush. Any UT guy gives me a scare at this point, they get all the best athletes they want and so they've shown a real trend of never teaching them a damn thing and letting their 11 more gifted guys out run and out hit your 11 guys. What I'd like to see us do with our first say, four picks or so would be (assuming all these guys come out): 1st - Gerald McCoy - best 4-3 DT prospect since Tommi Harris in my opinion, great penetrator who still maintains his gaps. 2nd - Brandon Spikes - I don't think the gap between Spikes and Maualuga/Laurinaitis is as big as the combine will make people think. Spikes makes plays and he's great value in the early 2nd. 3rd - James Davis, RB, Auburn - good size/speed combo but overshadowed by CJ Spiller. Would be a great compliment to Hillis (power) and one of Hall, Young, or Aldridge (speed). 4th - Pannel Egboh, DE, Stanford - good size, power, and speed. Needs a lot of coaching but I think he's a good project to bring in. I'd prefer a DE higher but we got other needs to fill. |

My guess is that with Demarco Murray already set back by injury, he'll return to OK. Unless he's fully recovered by the combine, he stock will drasticaly fall.

My gut says Bradford stays, my brain says he goes.
If he scouts as #1 overall, I'm sure that he'll head for the NFL. |

Murray is almost a lock to return IMO.
McCoy I think will return as well. I don't think he would grade out to be a top 15 pick after basically a season he did well. |

TAMPA, Fla. -- All-American running back Shonn Greene will skip his senior season at Iowa and enter the NFL draft.
The Big Ten's most valuable player made the announcement Thursday after rushing for 121 yards and three touchdowns in the Hawkeyes' 31-10 victory over South Carolina in the Outback Bowl. Greene set single-season records of 1,850 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns this season after sitting out 2007 because of academic problems. He won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back. |

Two South Carolina players said following the Outback Bowl that they will enter the NFL draft.
Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn and linebacker Eric Norwood said following the Gamecocks' 31-10 loss to Iowa that they'd made a decision. "I can be a good cover corner in the NFL," Munnerlyn, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound junior, said. "I just talked it over with my mom and I'm ready. The league said I should be drafted in the first three rounds." Norwood led the Southeastern Conference in sacks. "I'm ready for the pro game. I'm looking forward to being a pro," the 6-1, 253-pound junior said. |

Vandy CB going pro… Vanderbilt junior CB D.J. Moore announced after the Commodores' win over Boston College in the Music City Bowl that he had decided to forgo his final year at Vanderbilt and make himself eligible for the 2009 NFL Draft. The 5-10, 182-pound Moore could ultimately go as high as the late first or early second round this year.
