Default 2009 - Broncos year for BPA

Have you looked at our roster recently?

QB - Honestly, we're pretty much set here.

RB - We could definitely use an upgrade here. An elite back would be welcome, but even late round competition would be a good thing, and the player would have a chance to see the field. On the other hand, Hillis, Young, and some new UDFA could be serviceable once again, especially if Alridge has anything to offer.

WR - How long will Stokely last? We could definitely use a 3rd WR for the future. Just put the weapons around Cutler. But we could definitely get by with this same group of guys next year.

TE - Scheffler always seems to be fighting some sort of injury. And his contract is up fairly soon. So I wouldn't be too upset with a TE pick.

OT - Not a need. Clady + Harris are playing well, and Polumbus looks to be a guy we're grooming for a utility backup.

OG - Hamilton's getting up there in age, and we could use an upgrade here, in an ideal world.

C - Weigman's in his mid 30's, and we don't really know what we have in Lichtensteiger. What we do know is that Alex Mack would cement this position for the next 15 years.

DE - Moss is seeing some playing time now, but isn't impressing. Dumervil is a situational guy who will likely ask for a lot of money very soon. Crowder hasn't seen the field. Ekuban may be done very soon. Engleberger has no place on a football field. It sucks to give up this early on the young guys, but they have given us no reason to not look for another guy here, if the front office choses to do so. But then again, maybe we should give the guys some time, and we could live with another year of the same guys.

DT - Robertson has played well, given his contract. Thomas is looking like a solid player. Peterson has had his best year so far this year. Josh Shaw hasn't embarrassed himself, nor has Nic Clemons. We have no idea what we have in Powell. A lot of bodies, but none of these guys is close to elite. And an elite DT is probably the easiest way to completely change a defense. Either way we go could be justified.

OLB - We look to finally have depth at Will, with DJ and Woodyard. But at Sam? Boss Bailey is glass, Winborn doesn't impress, and who knows if Niko will ever be anything more than a special teams ace. Cutting Boss and drafting a solid Sam should be an option. But these guys are more than serviceable, especially if Woodyard could see the field at Sam.

MLB - We could definitely use a huge upgrade here. But if the opportunity doesn't present itself, we could definitely get by with Larsen/Webster for another year.

CB - Bailey and Bly are getting up there. Paymah will be gone, and JMFW has shown us little to get excited about. So drafting a CB couldbe justified. But Bell has played well, and the two starters have yet to lose a step, so a move is not necessary.

S - We need at least one young talent here. You could easily argue for two. But giving Barrett some more time might make sense, and McCree or Manuel starting at one spot wouldn't be the end of the world.

So, outside of taking one Safety, and avoiding QB and OT, there really aren't any moves that we HAVE to make. At pretty much every position, drafting a guy would make sense. Yet there's no unit that is so bad we can't get by with the same crew we have this season. What does that mean? BPA baby. Best Player Available at every pick, with the caveat of taking at least one safety and the first 3 - 4 rounds. Having some set agenda makes little sense with our current team. Just take the best players.

MLB, RB, FS(Barrett has SS on lockdown now) SAM(we won't cut Boss though, he is going to live out his contract or be here until we get Champ signed to the end of his career.) depth on the lines. and a receiver for depth behind our starters and Stokely.

We don't need QB(maybe a late round guy for a backup) TE, WILL,

We could just go the Giants route... yeah sure, we have some young guys on the DL (moss, powell, crowder)... but if we go all-in on the D-Line this year, we might go a long ways to building this team for a bright, bright future...

We got our O-Line together last year. Now get the D-line together and make it top-notch...

That would be building the team from the inside out. We would take care or the trenches, and in a little less than a few years, we would have gone from basically a finesse team, to a championship team with one hell of a backbone...

Yeah we need some better Dlinemen.

the DTs are ok, and we still have Powell.
But our ends are not good.
I hope we spend a high pick on one.

We also badly need another safety.
I can live with our LB situation, but I cannot live with our DE and S sitution.

knowing how we pick DL we would use all out picks on the line and not one of them pan out.

A proper safety needs adding, either through FA or the draft.

I'd love to get a solid FA Safety and then take a MLB like Spikes, Lauranitis or Mauluga in the 1st.

Then lots of defensive linemen the rest of the draft and maybe an O-Lineman and a RB as well.
