Default Obama will push for a playoff system

Anyone else see the 60 MIN interview the other night. One of the last topics asked him was College football and a playoff system. He seemed very passionate about it. He even waved off the First Lady to really answer this topic. She was like... 'o boy don't get him started on this subject.'

He said he would try and throw some weight around. For whatever this means.

Not sure how I feel about the whole playoff thing. I have always liked the idea that if you lose at any point in the season, your hopes are pretty much gone (though that hasn't been as true the last couple years). An 8 team playoff also seems a bit much to me. It seems that there are never more than 4 teams that at seasons end have a legitimate argument for being in the title game.

What's more important, I would argue, is getting the conferences to all have a championship game or none of them to have one. It is a big advantage for Big Ten and Pac 10 teams over the SEC and Big XII to not have that final tough game. It has cost the Big XII several shots at a national title (though it has probably brought in a good amount of money). If we could somehow standardize that, then maybe we can think about adding a couple rounds between the conference champs or something. Even as a Husker fan who saw a 2001 squad that didn't even win its division go to the title game, I agree you should have to win your conference to be in National contention (I'm talking to you Texas and OU). Then again, it would be hard to argue that the winner of the Big Ten this year is better than even the 3rd place team in the Big XII South.

I heard Obama is going to fix the raiders also. He might even pinch hit for the Rockies now and again.

Deadspin brings up a good/humorous point about the political implications: Get rid of the BCS, win over Southern voters.
