Default The official "Guilty Pleasure" music thread

Let me start by saying please try not to be to hard on anyone for their 'guilty pleasures" and not destroy them to much for a post in this thread .I grew up in the 80's "born 75" so you know what was playing when i was young ...

But from the time i was 5 i have been pelted with everything from George Jones to Death Metal .... I can remember finding the Blizzard of Oz 8 track when i was 4 one of my cousins had forgot at my house and that was always cool to listen to as i played .... i think that may have to do with me being a little warped ...

Whenever i'm ask whats my favorite CD all time , or the one CD i would take to a Island if i could only take one I ALWAYS say Pink Floyd the Wall ... just cause to me there is just so much different music in it , from 50s do wop to dark heavy stuff ... hell Chop Sticks is even in that CD in "thin ice" .... and Gilmour is prob my fav guitarist .

Now I'm into stuff like Staind , Dave Grohl , Non Point , ect ... anything Drop D tuned or at least that is what my guitarist says ....

But i have some BAD "Guilty Pleasures" sometimes .... and I'll start this thread with a doosie

Billy Ocean - Loverboy

And he still sounds the same even tho he is like 120 years old ...
But he sure looks to be having a good time ... GO Billy Go ..

My favorite songs from each of their albums:

Don't Turn Around (from The Sign)

My favorite of their albums, so I'm adding 2 songs from "The Bridge".

Angel Eyes

Lucky Love

Cecilia (from Cruel Summer)

Ordinary Day (from Da Capo)

Not trying to be difficult here, but I've never been able to relate to the whole "guilty pleasure" mindset where music is concerned.

I've never felt the need to check with the fashion police before I decide to like something.

Come on LABF. If I said Peaches n Herb there is no need for a fashion Police to rail on me. I think one of my favs still is Sweet from the later part of the 70s. I know they arent Culture Club level of guilty pleasure but I think they put out some cool stuff. For some reason, I like to hear Kelly Clarkson music. It isnt played on my stations but when i hear it, i just have to hear it.

For the Monkees alone I have to give you props. I loved those guys, granted it was in the 80s when they did their reunion stuff, but nonetheless loved them. But I still got to think the 80s must be ripe for some really awful music people listened to without admitting to it.

Not too many things make my jaw hit the floor nowadays, but I think seeing something like that would do it.

I always admitted to it, that's the thing. I have no shame in my guilty pleasures. I also think it's funny when someone is pawing thru my collection and comes across the likes of Carol King, The 1910 Fruitgum Co., America or KC And The Sunshine Band...the looks are classic.

I had a "thing" for Debbie Gibson back in the day, as we are the same age. It didn't matter what her songs actually sounded like. I just loved watching her "Shake Her Love"...

"Baby Talks Dirty" is the apex, it just doesn't get any trashier than that

Dig the Karate Kid on the drums Seriously though, That's the late great Bruce Gary who was one very underrated drummer.

I love power pop, always have....most people draw the line at The Knack though, mostly due to the perverted lyrics and Beatle-like ripoffs that abounded with them. I still love the first two albums to this day.
