Why does she use that voice? That can't be her real voice. Kids respond so much better when you just talk to them. All those kids look like they are scared to death of her. From that little clip I'd say she is a crappy teacher.
A good teacher would never show kids that young how she feels about there answers. making groans when the kid answers you. Wow just wow!! |

She needs to do something else for a living. Her job as a teacher is to provide both sides of the issue and the kids decide what makes sense to them. Facts and opinions are not the same and some teachers, not just kids, have troubles recognizing the difference.

My kid's grade-school civics teacher had everyone in her class vote for one political party or the other, and after they voted, she assigned them to write a paper on ten good things ... about the other party.
The smart ones identified themselves as Independents. |

My govt teacher in HS was really good. He made us argue both sides of an argument. He was a liberal but did a great job of teaching the conservative viewpoint. He was the teacher that showed me a true thinker exams both sides, and will almost always find he has something in common with both parties.

I can't believe people think that that is real, unstaged footage from a real classroom.

Today's video: Teacher lectures child who supported McCain Buzz up!Like this story? Share it with Yahoo! Buzz This controversial clip, recorded by a Swedish film crew, shows Diantha Harris talking about the upcoming presidential election with her fifth-grade students in North Carolina. The blogosphere is buzzing about her comments. WRAL-TV says her bosses aren't happy about the footage, either. Here's an excerpt from a statement William Harrison, the head of Cumberland County Schools, released after he learned about the YouTube footage: While neutral discussion of the political process is appropriate, at no time, particularly with elementary students, should a teacher infuse his/her political views into the discussion. Most disconcerting was the military slant that made its way into this discussion. We are a military community, serving over 15,000 military students and their families. We value the sacrifices, not only of the military parents but also those of their families. We believe that military children are our children, military spouses are many of our employees, and military service men and women are our heroes. We proudly serve our military children and have received national awards for our support of military families. I was particularly disturbed to see the uncomfortable position in which our children were placed due to the inappropriate actions of one of our teachers. Harris tells The Citizen-Times that she wasn't advocating for either candidate. “I wasn’t necessarily pulling for one person or the other,” she tells the paper. “If I was pulling for just one person then I would have never said the other person’s name.” The girl's parents tell WRAL-TV they don't have any complaints. A teacher's job at the elementary level is not to be, nor should it be, infused with political rhetoric. That's apparent from what the local school official had to say as well. Clearly the kids have little understanding of these issues beyond what they pick up from thier parents. I'm surprised that a public school would allow a foreign film crew inside one of it's classrooms to film children this age. I'm even more amazed that a teacher knowing she was on camera would be this stupid. The "obvious" thing is...she just became the poster child for why we need a clear and significant upgrade in the quality of our teaching profession.
