Default Is America Ready for its First Latin President!!

The sobering questions the conservatives and the GOP must answer is "Do they have Enough Voters to win future Elections"!!!! Already its reported that Obama received over 62 million votes, while McCain received 55 million votes. And this is despite the knowledge that Republican operatives may have purged over 6 - 13 million legally registered predominately Democratic voters from the voter rolls in 2008! That's a total of 11 to 18 million popular votes Obama possible could have added to his win column.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1.../32/882/634737

The population demographics are rapidly changing in the 21st Century. In 2016, their maybe a charismatic, intelligent, and visionary Latin-Hispanic candidate that may come onto the scene and challenge to become the first Hispanic-Latin President of the U.S. Don't for one minute think that it won't happen!

Just imagine for one moment the exploding Latin-Hispanic population by 2016 and Latins come out in records numbers and vote nearly 100% for their candidate, and African Americans come out and support the Latin candidate with 75%-85% with their votes, and open minded Whites come out to support the Latin candidate with 40-45% of their vote!!

Do you see where all this is leading? Republicans for all intense and purposes may have just witnessed the extinction of their GOP in 2008!!! Think it isn't a possibility? Republicans will need to do some deep soul searching over the next 8 years and find a way to diversify their party enough to the point of attracting at minimum 20-25% of both Latin and African American voters or spend the next 8 to 16 years not even sniffing the White House, and facing a very real possibility of becoming a distant memory......a relic if you will.

Yep.

That makes the Obama landslide all the more amazing.

Or maybe they could just start doing the right thing;

1) stop their lying
2) quit protecting their corporate mafia masters at the public's expense
3) stop pandering to the religious right with phony declarations of faith 4) quit trying to police the whole world
5) decide all of us matter instead of just those who they consider relevant to their own objectives
6) act ethically in an election

I hear talk of the GOP running Piyush "Bobby" Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, as their candidate in 2012.

We should be happy that we have our first English speaking president of the last 8 years.

And happy that we no longer have Cousin Eddie from National Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation" representing America.

Jindal is an interesting politician. I don't really know what his platform is but I ahve talked to a friend of mine who really likes this guy and suggests that he tends to be a classic conservative in the Goldwater model rather than the more neo-conservative Bush(now Palin) model. I wonder if the Republican party is going to be split over the issue of which way to go - or if this giant loss will be enough to get them away from the Bush model.

We will have to see how he handles Louisiana, but if he can get that state in line, he should be the next GOP nominee. He is a very principled conservative.

My details are vague, but I remember he got elected running a platform largely to clean up the corruption, then this summer the legislators voted themselves a large payraise, the folks of LA were depressed cuz they thought he would sign it, then on the last day before it wold become law he vetod it. I sure as hell hope he is a principled conservative. Its what we will need in 4 years once America wakes up from its little temper tantrum.

The RNC is definitely going to promote this guy. I thought he would have been a serious player as Vice President but it would have seemed a little heavy handed at the time.

EDIT: Bush and McCain were pretty good people before the Neo Cons got a hold of them. I am not confident the Neo Cons are willing to concede anything.

Hispanics are power brokers right now.

By 2012 the economy is going to be on the upswing, and Obama is going to get credit for it (right or wrong). This will be an two term presidency unless he just royally ****s up or some disaster happens. Republicans primary focus for 2012 should be winning back seats in Congress and then maybe they can get back the White House with someone like Jindal in 2016.

I think for Obama to get reelected 3 things have to happen.

1) We have to be mostly out of Iraq before the serious campaigning - he has a 3 year window for this.

2) The economy has to be on the upswing

3) Some form of healtcare plan has to be passed.

Obama said he would be mostly out in what 16 months in a campaign promise. Now it's 3 yrs?

Some healthcare plan? it doesn't have to be better just any ole thing?
