Lions get one of their first-rounders under contract

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...nder-contract/

Posted by Mike Florio on July 30, 2010 6:14 PM ET

Though it may be a while until the Lions strike a deal with the second overall pick in the draft, they've wrapped up negotiations with their second first-rounder.

Per a league source, the Lions have agreed to terms with running back Jahvid Best.

It's a five-year, $9.8 million deal.

Detroit traded up to the bottom of round one with the division-rival Vikings to get Best with the 30th overall selection in the draft.

Getting tired of waiting, I guess. Strange sequence of signings. #24 was the first, followed by #12, then #26, then #25. Not like dominoes as was previous years.

With bum shoulder, Bradford sure picked the Rams' pockets. What's the over/under as to how many games he will play before the shoulder gets smashed?

BTW: I wa not lauighing at the injury. The line that Roy refused to help carry him off the field struck me as a funney line.......

Didn't Kindle fracture his skull in a recent accident?

That is correct.

Sounds like he will miss training camp, at the very least.

Third overall pick Gerald McCoy reached a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, ESPN and the St. Petersburg Times reported.

The deal will allow McCoy, a defensive tackle, to report for the team's workout on Saturday afternoon.

Joe Haden agrees to terms with Browns

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...s-with-browns/

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 31, 2010 2:18 PM ET

Joe Haden's "holdout" lasted half a day.

After missing Saturday morning's practice, the Browns cornerback agreed to terms on a five-year deal. The No. 7 overall pick will get a five year contract worth a maximum of $50 million, with $26 million guaranteed according to his agent. Both Jason La Canfora of NFL Network and May Cay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer have the same numbers.

Haden immediately becomes one of the highest paid cornerbacks in football despite legitimate questions about his speed and ability to translate into a true No. 1 cornerback. Eric Mangini downplayed concerns about Haden's quickness.

"A lot of rookies don't play as fast as they can at this point,'' said Mangini. "They're thinking.''

For now, Haden will probably work behind a solid duo in Eric Wright and Sheldon Brown.

Well i'm surprised I thought he would be very difficult to get signed
