![]() Falcons, Winborn finally work out a deal
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...rk-out-a-deal/ Posted by Mike Florio on August 1, 2009 9:36 AM ET There were reports earlier this week that linebacker Jamie Winborn had ageed to terms with the Falcons. Winborn's agent, Jason Fletcher, told us on Friday that a contract had not been signed, and that Winborn was still available. He's not anymore. Fletcher tweeted not long after midnight that Winborn has signed, and the Falcons have announced it this morning. The good news for Winborn is bad news for linebacker Rashad Bobino, who was bounced to make a spot for Winborn. The Falcons open camp today, with a pair of practices at team headquarters in Flowery Branch, Georgia. |

![]() I can't wait to see these guys in camp. The team didn't look bad yesterday and we were missing Hill, Thomas, Bailey, Ayers, and Moreno. That's 5 potential starters and we were doing alright in my book.

![]() MCL sprain for Tarvaris
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-for-tarvaris/ Posted by Mike Florio on August 1, 2009 1:22 PM ET A league source tells us that Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson has undergone an MRI to gauge the extent of the damage he suffered today during a training-camp scrimmage. Per the source, Jackson suffered an MCL sprain. Initial word is that it's only a Grade I sprain, and that Tarvaris might be day-to-day. If it's Grade II or worse, however, Jackson likely would miss multiple weeks -- which likely would make Sage Rosenfels the Week One starter by default. Meanwhile, we're still wondering why in the hell defensive lineman Letroy Guion's body made contact with the red-shirted Jackson. "I don't know," Guion told Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press regarding the cause of the injury. "It was the heat of the moment. Things were moving fast." |

![]() Mason back at Ravens camp
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...t-ravens-camp/ Posted by Mike Florio on August 1, 2009 1:13 PM ET Multiple league sources tell us that receiver Derrick Mason has returned to the Ravens. We're told that he intends to play football this year, and he will not be retiring. Several weeks ago, Mason made it known that he planned to call it quits with a year remaining on his deal. The team had been in communication with Mason, but the Ravens had been careful not to push him too hard to return. Instead, they signed Drew Bennett, who worked out well. For two days. There's no evidence that the Ravens made any financial concessions. As a result, Mason will be eligible for unrestricted free agency after the 2009 season. And while we've previously expressed skepticism that Mason was merely trying to get some more money, it appears that the death of Steve McNair pushed him in the direction of calling it quits, and that the passage of time has persuaded Mason to continue. That said, the fact that $4.4 million was riding on the decision to play or not play had to at least be a factor in the final outcome. UPDATE: Our own Aaron Wilson caught up with Mason, who was coy about whether his return means that he has returned. Indeed, he has. Per Mike Duffy of the team's official web site, Mason could be back on the practice field as soon as tomorrow. |

![]() With the ceiling established by the five-year contract between the Giants and receiver Hakeem Nicks, the 29th overall pick in the draft, the Titans were able to work out a five-year deal with receiver Kenny Britt, the 30th overall pick in the draft.

![]() NFL Network lands in millions more homes today
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...e-homes-today/ Posted by Mike Florio on August 1, 2009 9:05 PM ET August 1 is a great day for the NFL, not just because camps in most cities are up and running. It also marks the day that the league-owned cable channel, NFL Network, moves to Comcast's Digital Classic level of service, putting NFLN into millions of new homes. And it's the right month to have NFL Network. Every single preseason game will be televised in HD, with twelve of them live -- including a live tripleheader on August 15. Before that, NFLN will have seven hours of live Hall of Fame coverage, with Rich Eisen serving as the emcee of the induction ceremony. There's also an ongoing new season of Top Ten shows, which periodically are invaded by a certain face for radio with which some of you might be familiar. So congratulations to everyone connected to NFLN. And here's hoping that Time Warner customers will demand that NFL Network be added to the Time Warner cable network, too. Especially since I live in an area where Time Warner is the only cable supplier. |

![]() Durability concerns likely caused running back Beanie Wells to slide to the bottom of the first round of the 2009 draft.
And on the same day he signed a rookie contract and got to work, Beanie got hurt. He was carted off the field with a left leg injury, according to the team's official web site. His status for Sunday's practice isn't known. But any time the term "cart" is used in the football context without "golf" in front of it, there's reason to be pessimistic. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...n-goes-beanie/ Damn. Sucks for Beanie... |

Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2009 11:53 AM ET Howard Eskin of 610 WIP in Philly reports that Eagles middle linebacker Stewart Bradley suffered a torn ACL on Sunday night during a scrimmage.
