SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Aldon Smith is back with the San Francisco 49ers.

Smith was activated off the non-football injury list Thursday. He went into an alcohol treatment center Sept. 23 -- three days after his second arrest on suspicion of drunken driving since entering the NFL in 2011. He was released from the treatment center this week.

How many weeks did he miss? I hope this doesn't excuse him from league punishment for the duis and felony weapons charges.

My dreamy MILF on NFL Insiders on ESPN (Wendy Nixx) said that he was out of treatment, he had to go post bond for the weapon charge at the police station then went for a meeting with the 49er's.

It is not likely he will play this year. They have to resolve the weapon charges and make sure he stays off the sauce. So far the 49er's are handling this the right way.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- The Cincinnati Bengals have been bitten by the injury bug once again. This time, the victim was a player the team can ill-afford to lose.

Fourth-year defensive tackle Geno Atkins, who was re-signed at the start of the season to a deal that will pay him $55 million, left Thursday night's game against the Miami Dolphins with a right knee injury that Bengals trainers believe may be related to his anterior cruciate ligament. A Bengals source confirmed to ESPN's Bob Holtzman that Atkins tore his ACL, but will have an MRI Friday to confirm the diagnosis.

Wow, losing Atkins would be huge. And big for us since I think the Bengals are one of our biggest threats in the AFC, and he anchors that defense.

Super depressing to hear about Atkins. He's definitely one of the good guys.

Especially after this article was posted just yesterday: http://mmqb.si.com/2013/10/31/geno-a...nnati-bengals/

Thad Lewis (ribs, flu) is listed as doubtful for Week 9 against the Chiefs.
Lewis missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before getting in a limited session Friday. The doubtful tag means the Bills believe he has a 25 percent chance to play. Jeff Tuel and Matt Flynn have been splitting first-team reps in practice this week with Tuel getting the majority of the snaps Friday. If Lewis is forced to sit out, we'd expect undrafted Tuel to make the start. Fire up the Kansas City defense as the No. 1 overall unit for Week 9.

Jeez. How much longer is EJ Manuel supposed to be out? That injury happened week 2, correct?

Bills QB E.J. Manuel (knee) got in his second straight limited practice Thursday.
Manuel is participating in individual drills, but isn't a candidate to start Sunday's game against the Chiefs. However, there's now an outside chance he returns for Week 10 against the Steelers. Week 11 remains his first realistic return date

That's a huge blow. I would love to see how many season ending injuries occurred on Thursday night football. TNFB is such garbage.

Hey - at least KC isn't playing a 3rd string QB this week. They're playing a 4th stringer...

I truly hope KC is undefeated when we meet in Denver

It will be so much fun the read the reaction after we kick them to the curb 52 to 10

Yep funny how that continues to happen, twice a year is something but this would be like what the 5th time they faced a new QB? Dominant D still sweating games out vs them too.

Agreed, and Mayock has moved into 2nd place, behind only Dan Dierdorf, for my most despised announcer, though Chucky is moving up there because of his nihilistic tendencies. I also hate Fouts and that G from the 49ers for their Bronco hate.

Fouts is by far the best color analyst out there, and I've never heard him diss the Broncos, unlike Millen or other former faider guys.
