The San Diego Chargers have lost wide receiver Danario Alexander potentially for the season with a torn right ACL, a source said.

Alexander, who tore his left ACL three times in college at Missouri, has had a history of knee problems, but emerged as a playmaker for the Chargers last season. Starting only six games last year, he caught 37 passes for 658 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Chargers were hoping he would emerge as a starter this season
Good.

I was hoping his knees would just literally explode during a game.

Losing Alexander is a huge blow. He was the only receiver that had any kind of chemistry with Rivers.

Feel terrible for Alexander but it doesn't matter for the Chargers. It's a rebuild year anyway.

At least you don't claim championship like Chiefs fans are doing.

No tears. I'm loving the new change McCoy has brought to the team. Hopefully it means great things for the long term.

I think McCoy will be a better HC than coordinator, and certainly better than Dennis Allen

McCoy was ready. Allen needed a couple more years of coordinating IMO.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 5m

Steelers WR Plaxico Burress has a torn rotator cuff, what could be a season-ending injury.

Nice to see my boy Dane Sanzenbacher with a 71 Yard Punt Return for a TD and a 36 yard TD reception for the Bengals.

When you get that old, isn't it just better if they say "season ended by natural causes"?

Damn! That's tough. He'll have to use his other arm to shoot himself now.

Peyton Hillis was hoping for a fresh start with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It hasn't taken long for a familiar roadblock to return.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, citing a person informed of Hillis' injury, reported Friday that Hillis suffered a hyperextended left knee during the third quarter of the Bucs' preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. Rapoport added the injury is minor. Hillis limped off the field and didn't return in the Ravens' 44-16 win.

Alex Smith orchestrated an 80 yard drive going 7/8 and 68 passing yards leading to a TD.

If this is the Alex Smith I'm getting he's well worth what we gave up.

Without looking I guarantee most of the passes were check downs to RBs then YACs.

A lot of them were, but if he's converting 3rd downs and scoring TD's like tonight than I don't mind one bit.

That's one thing you'll have to look for cause he's been among the worst in the league at 3rd down conversions.

Agreed. That's why I was impressed with him. He converted two 3rd downs, but he also converted three 2nd downs into first downs.

Meanwhile Cassel just threw a horrible INT in Minnesota.

LeGarrett Blount just made the Eagles look bad on a 51 yard highlight reel run, their defense is horrible Patriots have 170 yards rushing in the first half.
