If they're serious, I'm glad the NFL is finally thinking outside the box. The Pro Bowl as it exists now is Caleb Hanie-esqe in its assyness.
NFL Live has a segment like this occaisionally. It is good but not enough there to make a complete show around.

Maybe if they made it a game not called the Pro Bowl with borderline NFL free agents and gave them a chance to shine. Everybody would have something to gain and at least we'd be entertained.
Have the All Pro players coach the game.

Trent Cole - LB - Eagles

The Philadelphia Inquirer calls OLB Trent Cole a "fish out of water" in the Eagles' new 3-4 defense.
If it wasn't for Cole's enormous contract that he signed last March, then he'd already be gone. Cole has never played outside linebacker, and it's proving to be a chore for him to learn the nuances of the position. The Eagles are trying to force a square peg into a round hole with Cole, but they'd be charged with nearly $10 million in dead money if they were to cut him.

I still wish we could figure out a way to land him.

Sounds like a valid option after Phillips this year.

This is one of the main reason I think Chip Kelly is going to fail. The offense could be good, but the defense? An already talent deprived D is marginalizing probably its best player? Unless I'm missing something that defense is probably going to be awful. Their DB situation is pretty bad, and I'm not sure they have the front 7 talent to run the 3-4. I don't get what they're doing/thinking at all.

Will Smith - DL - Saints

Will Smith was running with the Saints' first-team defense at outside linebacker in OTAs this week.
Smith and Martez Wilson were with the ones, while Junior Galette and Victor Butler were with the twos. As we pointed out days ago, this attempt by the Saints to move 6-foot-3, 282-pound Smith to stand-up edge rusher is quite comical. Galette and Butler are younger and much more talented at this stage of their respective careers. Smith, due $3 million, is a candidate to be released.

He would be cheaper then Cole.

That or even Isreal Idonnije. I can't believe nobody is bringing him in for a look.

What would be a good offer for a player with one year left on his deal? I still think Carter should be traded. I like him, but he only has one year on his deal and we need to see what Bolden and Webster can do.

I like him as well. The only thing I can think of is he is pretty much like Wolfe and Ayers. Might be too many DT/DE tweeners.

This is what TC is for, if Bolden and Webster can beat out Tony Carter then fine but you don't move or cut good depth for 2 guys who haven't shown anything on the field yet.

Carter is fighting for at best the dime cornerback. Smith or Cole would be fighting for the starting RDE spot. You make the move to get a starter out of a limited time player. Any other roster Carter would be playing more hence he would have more value to another team.

IDK, Fox and JDR seem to like to rotate guys in a lot. Plus I really think all DRC has on Carter is size. At this point I think Carter is the better cover DB with DRC maybe being the better Zone CB.

I don't agree with the rotate players in the secondary. The only reason Carter got his job back is because Porter hurt his head again. Carter is solid, but I watched bigger WR's eat him up. Like Alexander for the Chargers.

While I don't agree with everything they say, this is a good write up of what we are getting in DRC. With Harris going inside we are in position to have 3 damn good DBs on the field at once. We would be much better with Bolden/Webster at the 4 CB and Cole or Smith at starting RDE then we would with Carter at 4 and Ayers/Phillips at RDE.

We would have a rotation of (Smith or Cole), Ayers and Phillips. Also Phillips would more as back up Miller as well as giving us protection if Phillips can't produce as a DE in the 4-3. That would give us a very good mix of players for the front 4 IMO.

Denver Broncos QB Ryan Katz is expected to compete with QB Zac Dysert for the No. 3 quarterback job and could win the job if he has an impressive training camp. Katz could also be added to the practice squad if he does not make the final roster.

They rotated Leonhard in a lot too, they had Boldin out there a couple times. They rotated Irving and Trevathan in quite a bit at LB. I think Fox and JDR like playing their depth and keeping starters fresh.

Erin Henderson taking all the first team reps at MLB. Think there was a poster who said we could have him at a very reasonable price. And given he played the Weakside every year of his professional career, he could stay on the field in subpackages and wouldn't be a liability against a quick attack offense.
