I wanted to check to see if there is some kind of trend for playing well late in the season and winning the SB.

Going back to 2000 SB winners are 35-13 in December and 18-6 the last two games of the year.

The Saints are the only team to have a losing record in December and win the SB in that time frame. Only three teams have split the month and won the SB. The Packers, Colts and Giants. Packers and Giants got hot and the Colts wanted to rest their starters.

Basically playing well in December can be one indicator of being a SB team.

The Bears cut second-year wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, who played in five games this season. He had one reception for seven yards.

Sanzenbacher, an undrafted free agent from Ohio State in 2011, led all Bears wide receivers with three touchdown catches as a rookie in 2011. He was Cutler’s go-to receiver after Earl Bennett was injured, catching 19 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns in six games.

But his playing time diminished once Bennett returned, and he finished his rookie year with 27 receptions for 276 yards.

I know it's late in the season, but Dane Sanzenbacher would be an upgrade over Matthew Willis.

He'd the kind of guy Peyton Manning could count on in the slot, as Brandon Stokley can't play forever and needs to be use on a limited basis.

Dane Sanzenbacher is a precise route runner and is known for being where he needs to be and making the tough catches....all attributes that Peyton Manning loves in his WRs.

I doubt it will happen, but I know he is an upgrade over Matthew Willis.

Yes....I wouldn't exactly call the Bears one of the more competent teams in terms of offensive team roster evaluation, look at the offensive line they've assembled.

I see him as a player on the roster begging for an upgrade to be brought in.

I'm not saying signing Dane Sanzenbacher would be a roster shattering, difference making move. I'm saying I think it would be one of those in season shrewd moves that John Elway and company have made this season that would be a minor upgrade on the roster.

If they don't do it this season, as it's probably a little late to bring him in and get him acclimated to the offense in such a short time frame, they should sign him when the season is over if nobody has claimed him.

Sanzenbacher is the kind if of player who would attach himself at the hip to Peyton Manning in the offseason and get on the same page with and come into training camp and have some chemistry and cohesiveness right off the bat.

And is Willis that bad? He's just #4 WR, plus Dreesen and Tamme, couldn't have expected much production from him.

I agree that we need to get some more help at the WR position, but I don't think Dane Sazenbacher is the solution. Bring him in to compete?

I'm not saying Dane Sanzenbacher would be a stud for Denver....I'm saying he would be an upgrade on the roster from the spot that is currently occupied by Matthew Willis. Small upgrades like that on the back end of your roster can make a difference at some point and time.

Matthew Willis never looks like he is in synch with Peyton Manning and has caused at least one INT this year by running the wrong route and not being where Peyton Manning was expecting him to be.

Compare?

Same college, both All-Big Ten 1st Team, both white, same slot WR role, one is 6'0 and 190 pounds, the other is 5'11 and 180 pounds. Both known for running precise routes and making the tough catch with traffic around them. Sanzenbacher can also return punts, which Gonzalez never did.
