If Calvin Johnson gets 214 yards receiving next week (he had 225 yards this week), he would end up with 2,106 yards receiving, which would best Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record of 2,105, set in 1984.
Of course, Adrian Peterson is going to be gunning for that record as well. |

Adrian Peterson had 25 carries for 86 yards today.
That gives him 1,898 yards on the season. 102 yards away from 2,000 yards, 208 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson's record of 2,105 yards. Minnesota plays Green Bay next week. |

Records/Milestones (Updated):
Passing attempts: Drew Bledsoe owns the single season record of 691, set in 1994. Matt Stafford has 685 attempts, with 1 game left to play. With 7 attempts next week, Matthew Stafford will have the record. Steven Jackson went over 10,000 career rushing yards a few weeks back. Jackson has 990 yards rushing on the season and only needs 10 yards next week to notch his 8th straight season of rushing for 1,000+ yards. Adrian Peterson has 1,898 yards rushing on the season and is 102 yards away from 2,000 yards, and 208 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson's record of 2,105 yards. Minnesota plays Green Bay next week. Calvin Johnson (117) and Brandon Marshall (113) have a chance to finish the season with 2nd most receptions in a single season. They won't reach Marvin Harrison's all time record of 143 receptions, set in 2002, but they could reach the 2nd spot, of 123 receptions, set by Herman Moore in 1995 and Wes Welker in 2009. Speaking of Wes Welker, he has 100 receptions on the season, his 5th season of 100+ receptions, which is a new NFL record. Calvin Johnson has 1,892 receiving yards on the season and passed Jerry Rice's single season mark of 1,848 yards, set in 1995. Calvin Johnson only needs 108 receiving yards to hit the 2,000 yard mark. If Calvin Johnson gets 214 yards receiving next week (he had 225 yards this week), he would end up with 2,106 yards receiving, which would best Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record of 2,105, set in 1984. On a Denver related note, it would be nice to see Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker both end up with 1,000+ receiving yard seasons with 10+ TDs. Denver has never had 2 receivers notch 1,000+ yards receiving and 10+ TDs in the same season. DMT has 87 receptions for 1,312 yards and 9 TDs. Eric Decker has 78 receptions for 988 yards and 11 TDs. Peyton Manning is 377/554 (68.1%) for 4,355 yards with 34 TDs and 11 INTs. The single season passing marks for the Denver Broncos are: completions (384 Jay Cutler in 2008), attempts (616 Jay Cutler in 2008), completion percentage (68.1%) by Peyton Manning in 2012 with Brian Griese at 66.7% in 2002), 4,526 yards (Jay Cutler in 2008), and 34 TDs (34 TDs Peyton Manning in 2012). I look for Peyton Manning to break all of them this season, except the passing attempts mark, which is fine, as it means Denver starting running the ball well down the stretch run. All purpose yards: Darren Sproles set the record with 2,696 all purpose yards in 2011. Randall Cobb has 2,342 all purpose yards with 1 game left to play. With only 101 all purpose yards today from Cobb, Sproles will probably keep the record. The single season sack mark of 22.5 was set by Michael Strahan in 2001. 3 players have a chance to reach that mark. J.J. Watt had 1 sack today, to give him 20.5 sacks with 1 game left to play. Aldon Smith has 19.5 sacks with tonight's game being played right now, as well as next week's game. Von Miller had 1.5 sacks today, to give him 17.5 on the season, which surpassed Elvis Dumervil's club record of 17.0 sacks, set in 2009. Von Miller won't break the NFL record, but props on the team record and a shot at 20 sacks. One a side note, Elvis Dumervil had 2 sacks today, which gives him 11.0 sacks on the season. The punting yards record in a season could fall as well. The record of 4,968 yards was set by Andy Lee in 2007. Dave Zastudil of Arizona has 4,904 punting yards with 1 game left to play. The forced fumbles in a season mark could be topped. Keep in mind, the record hasn't been closely tracked until the last 12 or so seasons, so I'm sure one of the old timers has topped this mark. Osi Umenyiora holds the record of 10 forced fumbles in 2010, but Charles Tillman has 10 forced fumbles this season to tie the record, with 1 game left to play. Including playoff games, Denver is 22-5 overall versus Cleveland, including 10 wins in a row.
Denver hasn't lost to Cleveland in over 22 years....since October 8th, 1990. |

I wonder how Mara is taking these Giants whippings.
Oh well, time for him to regroup this offseason and "make things fair" for his precious Giants. What a piece of ****; I wonder what outrageous bull **** he will come out with next. Maybe he will stop philly from getting a high draft pick. Jackass. |

I wanted to check to see if there is some kind of trend for playing well late in the season and winning the SB.
Going back to 2000 SB winners are 35-13 in December and 18-6 the last two games of the year. The Saints are the only team to have a losing record in December and win the SB in that time frame. Only three teams have split the month and won the SB. The Packers, Colts and Giants. Packers and Giants got hot and the Colts wanted to rest their starters. Basically playing well in December can be one indicator of being a SB team. |

The Bears cut second-year wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, who played in five games this season. He had one reception for seven yards.
Sanzenbacher, an undrafted free agent from Ohio State in 2011, led all Bears wide receivers with three touchdown catches as a rookie in 2011. He was Cutler’s go-to receiver after Earl Bennett was injured, catching 19 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns in six games. But his playing time diminished once Bennett returned, and he finished his rookie year with 27 receptions for 276 yards. |

I know it's late in the season, but Dane Sanzenbacher would be an upgrade over Matthew Willis.
He'd the kind of guy Peyton Manning could count on in the slot, as Brandon Stokley can't play forever and needs to be use on a limited basis. Dane Sanzenbacher is a precise route runner and is known for being where he needs to be and making the tough catches....all attributes that Peyton Manning loves in his WRs. I doubt it will happen, but I know he is an upgrade over Matthew Willis. |

Matthew Willis is a player I've been looking to upgrade on the roster for the last few seasons.

Besides, do you really see Matthew Willis as being a valuable asset? Name a few plays in particular that have given you this notion. I see him as a player on the roster begging for an upgrade to be brought in. I'm not saying signing Dane Sanzenbacher would be a roster shattering, difference making move. I'm saying I think it would be one of those in season shrewd moves that John Elway and company have made this season that would be a minor upgrade on the roster. If they don't do it this season, as it's probably a little late to bring him in and get him acclimated to the offense in such a short time frame, they should sign him when the season is over if nobody has claimed him. Sanzenbacher is the kind if of player who would attach himself at the hip to Peyton Manning in the offseason and get on the same page with and come into training camp and have some chemistry and cohesiveness right off the bat. I'd envision Dane Sanzenbacher playing the same role as Anthony Gonzalez filled with the Colts for a few years before injuries derailed his career.

The San Francisco 49ers are still assessing the damage a day after a thorough defeat at the hands of the division rival Seattle Seahawks, but the early returns are not good.
Wide receiver Mario Manningham tore both the ACL and PCL in his left knee, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. |

You serious about Sanzenbauer ... he's a fringe performer. I think Gonzalez is from Ohio State too, but I can't see much else to compare. Gonzalez was pretty good his forst couple years.
And is Willis that bad? He's just #4 WR, plus Dreesen and Tamme, couldn't have expected much production from him. |

I'm not saying Dane Sanzenbacher would be a stud for Denver....I'm saying he would be an upgrade on the roster from the spot that is currently occupied by Matthew Willis. Small upgrades like that on the back end of your roster can make a difference at some point and time.
Matthew Willis never looks like he is in synch with Peyton Manning and has caused at least one INT this year by running the wrong route and not being where Peyton Manning was expecting him to be. |

Same college, both All-Big Ten 1st Team, both white, same slot WR role, one is 6'0 and 190 pounds, the other is 5'11 and 180 pounds. Both known for running precise routes and making the tough catch with traffic around them. Sanzenbacher can also return punts, which Gonzalez never did. |
