![]() What's up with all these players taking less money to play in Philly? Check this out re Ronnie Brown:
Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald reports via Twitter that Brown was pursued by the Eagles, Chargers, Ravens and Rams, and that Philadelphia's contract offer was the lowest of the four. Assuming Jeff's on the money, that's the latest bit of evidence that the Eagles have become the destination team for players around the league. Nnamdi Asomugha took less money than he was offered elsewhere, and it's become very clear that the chance to play with Michael Vick and for Andy Reid is one at which NFL players want to jump if they can. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post...k-ronnie-brown |

It's to the point now where the remaining free agents want to go to Philadelphia -- and are willing to take less to do it. |

![]() Has there ever been an example of a team that signed a boatload of free agents and went on to win the SB? I'm not talking a few, I'm talking the Redskins approach or what Philly did this year.

![]() Dallas did in the Nineties. They got Charles Haley and Deion Sanders from SF and drastically changed the balance of power right after the first CBA. Jimmy Johnson truly deserves a lot of credit for Bringing his MIA front to the NFL and then getting the players to run it in DAL. Jerry Jones will forever be the biggest idiot owner in the NFL IMHO. AL Davis and Dan Snyder have not been relevant enough to take that from him recently.

![]() Those examples aren't good enough, IMO. We didn't sign all those free agents in one offeseason and then go to the Super Bowl. We did it piecemeal over several seasons and good draft picks were already in place.
The same goes for the Cowboys in the nineties. Sure Sanders and Haley were big signings, but they got Irvin, Aikman and Emmit Smith out of the draft and by trading players away. They didn't sit down one offseason and sign eight dudes to huge contracts and then magically waltz into the Super Bowl. Last edited by Kaylore; 08-04-2011 at 01:30 PM.. |

![]() I was thinking maybe the mandatory cap floor kicking in next season had something to do with it. Maybe the players know the teams will be forced to spend at least as much if not more next season, so they're hoping to play well for a year and then sign long-term when there is more money to go around.

![]() 49ers sent a league-wide e-mail shopping Taylor Mays. Could be a nice addition for the right price. I know we're deep at safety but could Fox possibly convert him to a WLB a la Thomas Davis?
