...Does the team migrate back to a 4-3 look? The 3-4 was to get the supposedly great LB's all on the field, at least that was what was cited in some reports.
With one of those backers down, does the 3-4 emphasis fade away? Is it a big loss? Run stuffing and sacks were also cited as reasons for the increased use of the 3-4. The sacks have gone up but the team has still lost 3 of 4 games and the run defense has gotten worse. Discuss. |

His moniker is WWIII
I actually would like to see him at SS, but as long as hes ON THE FIELD, I could care less. |

I would think they might have to go back to a 4-3 look. Eventhough Boss was fragile, he was pretty quick. Maybe Niko gets in there and kicks some ass

Scrap the 3-4...these are the things we should ask: 1) Do we have a massive run stuffing monster at NT? No 2) Do we have 300 pound plus DE's who can stop the run? No 3) Do we have big fast OLB's who can blitz and sack the QB? No 4) Do we have a coach who can coach it? No All this means is that we are now virtually assured of going with the 3-4. I just want to see WWIII and Larsen get in the game and lay some wood. |

Don't give up on the 3-4, but do keep Webster and Niko off the field. I want Winborn and Larsen on the field. I am tired of looking at anybody else.

We didn't scrap it when he left the game. Louis Green came in and ran it, so that leads me to believe they are having Green practice it in case Boss were to go down. They are going to keep with it.

I think part of our problem is the LB's playing so tight together (small DE's). If you notice all the runs came on the edge of the defense. I think they should use more of their lateral quickness that everyone graces them with and make a play. |

I guess if LB's are judged by the ability to tackle 20 yards downfield, the Broncos are hard to beat there, though would be nice if more tackles and plays made around the line of scrimmage. But that's me.

He's only good for 10 or so.As for the OP, yes I hope this signifies a shift away from the 3-4 action. It was a cute gimmick that tricked Drew Brees for a sec, now it's just sad ![]() |

It did create pressure however, and Cassel did a fantastic job of just taking the sack. If we can get that kind of pressure against other QBs that may try to take some chances and throw the ball in the face or pressure or scramble then maybe we could get more Turnovers. Not only that but QBs may be willing to take more chances in the face or pressure without Champ on the field. Wishful thinking, but whatever gets pressure.

not so fast... we would be lucky to get a third for him as is. So your comment is screwed both ways.

Even now by the time trading champ would be an option, next offseason, he would be healed and easily still worth a top 10 first round pick IMO. Obviously you won't be able to screw Boss by cutting him and expect big brother to want to stick around and play for a team that stinks on defense. That's more my point this whole thing, not that trading champ would have been the smart move. |
