Default Cutler Has Regressed

I know the fan boys will attack me for this but Cutler has regressed. Granted its because he is missing some of his weapons but he is forcing the ball and making bad decisions.

Of course he also shows flashes of brilliance still so I just attribute this to a phase. Its kind of like his sophomore slump. I KNOW he will be fine and learn from this. But I think he got a false sense of bravado and it has bitten him in the ass.

Flame away but thats what I am seeing.

You are correct..But i think he is least of our problems..

Shanny and our defense are the biggest problem..

I agree he isn't the main problem. But he needs to take his lumps. We all can't be lucky to have Brady's

Cutler was horrible mainly do to that injury in the first half, and then we got behind, and he had to force crap in there.

Yeah Cutler does not look good, he is not impressive at all.

We have an offense that prolly leads the leauge in turnovers, but doesnt score very much to make up for it

A defense that is the worst in the league.

Yep, we officially SUCK

San Diego, the AFC West is all yours, we dont want it

Yeah but he was forcing even when they weren't behind last week and the week before.

Look its his learning curve. He has found success and now teams are scheming that away. He just needs to learn to adjust.

Ya, it does appear that Cutler started drinking his own kool aid. His INTs were just horrid.

I am not worried about him becoming a failure. I think you have to take your lumps. Cutler is a competitor and will correct it. But he sure has had a bad stretch.

Nah he had great zip on the ball in the second half. A tight spiral like that isn't possible with a broken index finger on your throwing hand.

You know I got ragged on for saying the same in the past. I have actually seen this since GB preseason game. What i have been seeing is (even in SD and NO games - Oak was exception) Cutler's completions are all great throws. I mean they are all between defenders and were only completions because the cutler was able to fit in a tight window.

I think those plays are not repeatable - atleast not consistently by any QB. Cutler needs to learn to go to safer options atleast half the time - I mean his second interception came on 1st down # 82 was open in the flat for probably 5 yards gain atleast.

I think it's more the finger on this game more than anything else.

I think with a fit offense (Marshall, Royal, Stoke and Sheff) he'll be one of the top 5 in the league.

Cutler worries me.. he really does. The big risk when we drafted him is that he has never won anything. As a matter of fact, it's been a LONG time since he had a winning record as a QB (going back to college). He has to be taught how to be a winner, and right now he doesn't have it. He's started talking about incredible his arm is... and he has zero skins on the wall to be talking like that.

I have great hope for him, but the last 4 games make me doubt that he's 1/2 of the QB I want him to be. God I hope something changes...

I disagree. I don't think he's forcing the ball because he has regressed but because he really only has one reliable option now. Tonight he was obviously bothered by his finger injury and his throws were suffering.

This team is banged up all over and we're suffering for it. At least now we'll have a chance to recharge for the mid season push.

Don't get me wrong Ap.....I am a big time Cut fan & think he has all the tools in the world needed to succeed. He's simply lacking a HC that has the same motivation & fire as himself. That tends to happen when owners start saying things like "The job is his as long as he wants it"

Seriously, I wish my boss didn't hold to performance clauses.

As for contributing to this board......Can't help ya there. I'm just a noob with 300 posts or so.

Go bye week!

Well I am right. Coach just said in his press conference they x-rayed his index finger and it isn't broke. It wasn't his thumb that was hurt.

when does confidence cross the line into arrogance?

at some point Jay needs to start recognizing and learning from his mistakes and maturing as a QB in this league. we all know he has a God given talent that few others QBs posess (a rifle for an arm), but so did Jeff George and look how his career turned out.

Jay... take heed. don't become a Jeff!

Told you you were going to get flamed to death, Apa!

He really hasn't looked focused. I love the kid's potential, but he's looked sloppy the last couple of weeks. Maybe teams are scouting our offense better and he's got nowhere to put the ball. I don't know... but he looks a little sluggish, sloppy and careless.

He's far from the biggest problem. We can't sustain any sort of running game. Teams don't respect it. But, Jay doesn't look like much of a leader out there right now, imo.

I'm going to reserve judgment until we find out the extent of the injury to his finger. If it's broken or dislocated, he should have never played the second half.
