(The way I look at it is teams that have been consistent, won tough games, and are playing better now than they were in week one and are trending upward. This is how I have seen it to this point with teams looking better and playing consistently.)
First Tier Teams: 1. PIT- Simply the most complete and balanced team in the league. 2. NYG-Second most complete team that showed flaws if Pass rush is ineffective or blocked. 3. TEN-Defense keeps them in games and ground attack is formidable. Vince Who? 4. BUF-Most improved team in the league, playing consistent, won games they could have lost. Sole loss was without Trent Edwards and to a much improved ARI team. Second Tier Teams: 5. TB- Offense struggled versus DEN, but has been great with Garcia the last 2 weeks. Defense is adjusting to new scheme with TO's and giving up less big plays than first 3 games. 6. ARI-Much more balanced than in the past on offense, Defense is getting better each week. 7. CAR-Rallied to beat NO after getting handled by TB last week. Have better balance on offense and Defense is playing very well, especially up front. 8. WAS-Passing game has been extraordinarily inconsistent, but Defense is quietly one of the best in the league. They would be higher if they were not so inconsistent week to week. Portis is top Rusher in the NFL. Third Tier Teams: 9. PHI-Getting better and playing OK with all the injuries. 10. ATL-OK, this is the state of the NFL right now. ATL stole a solid Victory in a game they could have easily lost 2 weeks ago. 11. JAX- Injuries have killed them, yet they are still .500 coming off a win and a much needed bye week. 12. GB-Winning games with offense and better secondary play. 13. NYJ-Defense is getting better and offense is good enough. Struggled against OAK this week. 14. DEN-Offense has scored an average of 17 points the last 3 games, and the defense is bottom 5 in the league on their good days. They could be higher if Offense catches fire against NE tonight. Outside just looking in: NO-Offense is solid; DEF is making very slow strides. Injuries are catching up to them though. DAL-Not who they thought they were (thanks Dennis Green). Lost 3 0f 4 and starting QB. Starters are tops in league, depth is going to be their downfall. SD-Inconsistency is killing this team, should be 4-3 or better. Defense is an enigma. CHI-Who would have thought their defense would give up 41 points and they could still Win? BAL-Defense always gives them a chance. Offense is heavy run dependent and OL is inconsistent. The rest are just not fun to differentiate. Who would have dreamed that INDY and NE would not be here and SD and DAL would be outside looking in after 7 weeks? |

TB and AZ don't belong in that second tier (though I appreciate the mention).
Arizona is definitely not as good as Denver, but their defense does have more attitude. |

There are three teams at the top in no particular order: NYG, Tenn, Pitt.
There are a bunch of teams at the second level in no particular order: Buff, Denver, Arizona, Carolina, Washington, Tampa, Jacksonville, Chicago, Green Bay, Atlanta, Dallas. Anyone of these teams can beat any one of the others on any given day. Then there is everyone else. |

Unlike most people, I'm not sold on Pitt. They've barely beat some marginal opponents. Their offensive line sucks and they have struggled offensively.

I'd put us in Tier 2 alongside the Foreskins and Panthies.

I stil think the Chargers are in that 3rd tier as of now. I know they have sucked it up, but they cant drop this fast, can they?
Also, I wouldnt count out the Rams from the NFC W. Dont laugh. I love my hometown AZ Cards, but they always fall apart, all the time. Rams are a different team with Haslett running things, and only 2 games down. I think this could happen. |

Chi deserves to be better, they are the only team that had led in all games in the 4th quarter even the losses and ther record could have better. They are winning without their 3 starting cbs.
Den should be lower, watching the game last night i thought it could not get worse but I realize it will because den will play without Champ in the coming weeks. |

The Jets defense keeps them in the third tier. I would say they should have been moved down to 14 after the loss to OAK though. Missed that in my updates. I'll change that.
BTW, OAK played very well against the Jets. |

This team is much better after the Bye week healed them up. They absolutely mauled CIN and that was with their third string RB. DEF is also getting much better. As I said, the rankings are weighted to teams trending up.

Also, wtf are you making out of all of this? DJ played awesome the first five weeks, and had a few good plays yesterday but he just got chewed up last night. Every short yardage play, and every big gain play was to the weak side, AND bounced outside of Elvis. ...and intermediate coverage ALL season long. The LBs drops are crazy. You're not cutting off any passing lanes 15-20 yards down-field, especially when these princesses can't come up and make a pop at the catch. That Foxworth trading is looking worse and worse. We ended the game with starting corners of Jack Williams and Karl Paymah, and I couldn't even name who's going to be coming up in nickel situations. The bye week couldn't come at a better time. They've got a TON of **** to figure out on both sides of the ball. |

You're so right. After that loss we should obviously cancel the remaining majority of the season. Call the commish and hang it up, it's over.
