Default Gonzalez to the G-Men?

Word out of Mullet Land is that their Hall of Famer is up for grabs.

yeah, here's one article, but Giants only want to give up a 6th round draft and KC wants a 3rd round. Green Bay and Buffalo are also mentioned as potentials.

Yeah lost in all the overreaction and crying threads is a thread about this. Supposedly Larry Johnson is up for trade too.

I could see Gonzo getting traded for a 5th that could become a 4th or maybe even a 3rd, depending on production, etc.

I'd be shocked if Larry Johnson went anywhere.

If I were the Giants I'd give up a 3rd in a heart beat for Gonzo. I thought they were asking for a first which would be a problem. I'd even consider a 2nd if I were the G-Men. Figure that is basically and early 3rd as they will make the playoffs and likely end up with one of the best records in the NFL. Seriously, if they don't do a Gonzo deal for a 3rd they are fools! Gonzo can play at a pretty high level for another 3 years. DO THE DEAL!

They should just get rid of him for a 6th rounder, who cares

Why? The Chiefs basically have to start over, and Jamaal Charles is playing respectably for them. I think both of them will be gone before next season. They may keep Larry Johnson throughout the season, but I see him being dumped shortly afterwards...

For contract reasons.

Really? I understand why you personally wouldn't care, but I have to politiely disagree. Gonzo is still one of their few consistently good players on offense (LJ is hit or miss and Bowe keeps dropping everything this season and who is the QB this week) so it would vaguely help Denver if they lost one of their few remaining weapons.

A 6th round for LJ maybe (but I don't think so), but Gonzo is the better player on and off the field. I kind of like the earlier suggestion that the pick be based on his performance with the team. I hope for Gonzo's sake he at least gets to go get a playoff win before he's done.

As for LJ, I think the guy still can play, but he won't get anything done in KC the way it is now. He is not a versatile back, but when he gets behind a line that blocks well, he can get it done. His attitude though could use some tweaking and the amount a team would have to pay for him, probably not worth it.

Actually right now would be the perfect time to trade for LJ. The Cheaps get to take that cap hit on and his contract #s for the next three or four years are actually GREAT. I think the most he makes is about $6mil/yr on the final year. Not much downside to that! I'm not a big LJ fan b/c of his crybaby BS and the whole Black Coach to relate to him (Turner? ) thing, but I do know that he is talented and some of those long runs that Pittman was able to break off would be TDs with LJ.

Gonzo just deserves a chance to go to the playoffs and win. The Giants would be ideal for him. He would be the #2 option in the pass game and fit in well in a diverse NY City. I just hope the G-Men are smart enough to do it. I'm not a Giants fan but I could root for Gonzo with them a lot easier than I could Gonzo on the Cheaps! He's hard not to like, kind of like Tim Brown and Howie Long were while with the Faiders or Tomlinson with the Chargers. Just a good guy for the NFL that has gave his all to the franchise. Obviously, I would also hope that he would return for a day to retire as a Chef (who he will represent when he goes into the HOF).
