Just so you know Dagmar, even though you're probably very, very drunk (based on your sig), you're justified in everything you've said so far.

To help you Fooc, here's the definition of Homophobia:
Homophobia (from Greek homós: one and the same; phóbos: fear, phobia) is an irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality.[1][2][3] Some definitions lack the "irrational" component.[4][5] Homophobic is the adjective form of this term used to describe the qualities of these characteristics, while homophobe is the noun form given as a title to individuals labeled with homophobic characteristics. Many people like to confuse the meaning of the word "Homophobia" and say that someone who hates homosexuals is homophobic, when the actual definition means to be afraid of homosexuality, not homosexuals "Homophobia" was first used with its modern meaning in 1972. It has been criticized as a pejorative against those with differing debatable value positions, with several researchers proposing alternative words to describe prejudice and discrimination against gays and lesbians. The term "internalized homophobia" is used to describe a prejudice against one's own homosexuality. Sources of LGBT-based discrimination have been widely studied, and a focus of the LGBT community has been on countering such discrimination. Here's the thing, your disourse on this topic gets more and more nauseating. I don't wish you any harm, only more education. Homosexuals are not created by watching Ugly Betty on TV. It is not a choice. You either are gay or not. Fundamentally who your children become is largely determined by their parents and the rest of the company that influences them (friends for instance). Being gay is not not any more changeable then being male or female. But talking logically with you seems to be a waste of time. Your deep fear/loathing of anything different from you is clear in your posts. It just so happens today that homosexuality is your target this time. If you really feel concern about the TV teaching your children, don't let it, or sit down and watch the shows with them and then use that as a starting point to discuss the issue with them (whatever that issue might be, homosexuality or otherwise). It is your job as the parent, not the TV's job to raise your children. But the fact is, regardless of TV content, your children will be a product of whatever genetic predispositions that they have been born with and your parental guidance. So for instance, your homophobia is so constant I am sure your children will inantely pick up on that and either become homophobic as well or rebel and embrace not necessarily being gay (again not a learned behavior) but being actual friends with gay people (likely the more the flamboyant the better) and tossing it in your face. Personally, after watching my brother self-destruct on drugs, that would be a bigger concern if I was a parent. |
