Default Ugliness at Palin rallies

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...100602935.html

Quote:
Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
Quote:
The reception had been better in Clearwater, where Palin, speaking to a sea of "Palin Power" and "Sarahcuda" T-shirts, tried to link Obama to the 1960s Weather Underground. "One of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," she said. ("Boooo!" said the crowd.) "And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,' " she continued. ("Boooo!" the crowd repeated.)

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Except for the potential racial aspect - Good. The media needs to get in the ass as much as possible. Get a real job.

I guess if the Repugs can't win on merit, they'll try mob violence, lies and racism. Whatever it takes from the "moral values" party.

Now that you've gotten that all out of your system. The media are the biggest liars on the planet, and completely lacks any of objectivity at all. ****'em.

Actually, these Palin "events" just prove Obama's point, that McCain is just more Bush. This is the same old divisive Repug politics. When the country really needs to come together and solve huge issues, what do the Repugs do (going all the way back to Nixon)? They divide the country for the good of their party. They lie. They scapegoat. They stir up hatred. Whatever will benefit them. Hell, what have thirty years of Repug economic policy been but to separate out the rich and make them richer to the detriment of the uneducated poor who they now incite to riot. I have never seen a party so devoid of moral compass.

You know what just occured to me? This rally will probably cinch Florida for Obama. When the unaffiliated voters and old school conservatives see this exhibition from Clearwater, they'll react with disgust. BTW, in case you didn't know, Palin is only being sent to the reddest of red zones in Florida. So this crowd reaction pretty much captures where the Repugs are coming from. Just like Bush, the last thing the Repugs are going to do is send Palin anywhere that an actual question, say on the level of a high school civics test, might be asked.

It's impossible to defend Palin as a VP candidate, except for her comedy/parody value.
Someone has to replace GW.

Kerry ran one of the worst campaigns, and the funny thing is it still was close!

Hey, I agree that the media are far from perfect. But do you really think Palin's been victimized here?

"Name a Supreme Court case besides Roe v Wade."

"Name a newspaper or magazine that you read."

Are those really unfair questions?

I think so, but not because of those particular questions. The fact that she is woefully under qualified is enough, but we've got media out there saying all sorts of ridiculous things about her family for example. It's over the top.

Like what have they said about her family? In my view they've actually been pretty restrained.

They haven't really pointed out that her husband was a member of a political party that has treason against the US as one of its central tenets.

They haven't made much out of the video of her being baptized by the witch doctor, which I'd consider fair game after all the Rev. Wright crap.

What have they done to Palin that you find uglier than what's happening at these campaign rallies? It sounds to me like they're turning into a mob.

The Limbaugh and Hannity hatemongers have already incited two men to go "liberal" hunting with firearms. Maybe now Palin can incite the lynching of journalists. I'm sure that would fire up the base.

It just occurred to me. Isn't it odd that "the base" in Arabic is Al Queda?

I'm going to be one of six people in Utah voting for Obama (gunns will be one of the other five ).

I really hope that the Republicans can come up with someone in 2012 that I could support with a clear conscience. I am, without question, a Republican.

Right now, though, I think our country needs a guy like Obama more than we need MOTS. I guess it's choosing ethics over political ideals, or something like that.
