I voted Vilma but not because I know enough football to really break down the pros and cons. Clearly neither one was going to be the single answer to our defensive woes.

How about a seven team trade where Denver ends up with three new boxes of jocks?

Robertson.

Webster is playing well at MLB, but if need be we could use Niko, Woodyard or Winborn there. Without Robertson we'd be screwed at DT.

have you been watching the games? for every good play that Webster has, there are like 3 where he completely overruns his gap and misses a tackle because he wants the killshot instead of a good tackle.

h yeah I've been watching the games, and Webster is playing quite well. There are many others on the Mane who see it as well.

It is amazing to me that people cam watch the same game and end up seeing two or more different things.

"That was a good play!"

"No it wasn't, he missed two other tackles last year in practice".

Those missed tackles in practice always come back to haunt you. I remember this time...back in the summer of '77...I was only one at the time, but anyway, I remember that Webster was walking down the stairs (we called him Arnold instead, for fun) and said to this guy, "watchoo talkin' 'bout Willis?". And then there were those missed tackles in practice...shoulda been Vilma.

I honestly would love to have seen vilma and DJ play together....they are best freinds from what i remember when they were drafted. And robertson has not made a HUGE impact so its kind of a toss up between either one.... but from what ive seen of vilma he has been playing well

Why is Webster getting all this ****? I mean he is playing better than Boss and has half the contract Boss has.

Where's the option for Brian Griese, Simeon Rice, and IHOP?

Can I vote for both?

IMO, if we had taken Vilma we'd still be in trouble vs the run. Taking Robertson helps more against the run, but we don't have a Mike that can get good zone drops in coverage. We really needed both!

Seriously? You think it's a coincidence that literally the only game the Broncos have gotten gashed against the run (and lost) was the one game he missed?

Robertson..

The whole reason the Jets moved Vilma was because he was a non-factor in teh 3-4....with the way we switch back and forth we would be having hte "Vilma sucks in this system" threads up here every week...The Jets heart and soul of their defense was Vilma until the switch and they HAD to trade him (look at what they got) because he didnt fit the system. Robertson is a better fit for us.

Anyone here can tell you that I was pretty much leading the "get Vilma" charge around here all off season. I'd love to have him, but I just don't think he'd have the impact that Robertson has had for one primary reason: I don't think the dropoff from Vilma to Webster is as drastic as the dropoff from Robertson to his DT backups.

Kaylore,

I rarely call you out, but this statement is absurd. He single-handedly shut down Peterson last night and is, in my opinion, a top 10 defensive player in the league. He's a monster

What are you smoking? I watched the entire game and i didn't see Vilma anywhere close to where AD was. I remember Vilma making contact with AD on that play where AD almost fumbled but that's about it. And it wasn't even Vilma who was responsible for that, it was the safety after AD gained another 3-4 yards after the Vilma "hit".

ANYWAY
I picked Robertson. Willliams is better than Vilma. Of course, we could have moved Williams to OLB again but then who would take on those double teams on our D-Line? We would struggle. Right now with Robertson we're better off. He might not record 20 sacks this season but he does a lot of dirty work, he takes on 2 guys, other guys make plays because of him.
