I know I know...this has nothing to do with how he plays football or the denver broncos... but is Jay Cutler a jerk? I'm hearing this from a lot of sources lately.
My cousin went to Vandy with him and said he was reknowned for being an all around douchebag. So did one of my coworkers and he said the same thing. I just want some perspective There's a reason TD is my favourite bronco and not Elway... I loved Elway for what he could do... but TD to me seemed the better person. |

Haha, he seems aloof and extremely confident, I could see that leaning towards being a jerk, they're all better traits for a QB than say...Vince Young's personality. I'll stick with him

This thread could fizzle out. Or it could explode into potential HofF status.
I'm going to guess the former; but I'm still hopeful. |

Sometimes he seems a little cocky and arrogant... but other times he seems like a very down to earth, likeable guy. I don't know... and as long as he plays well and doesn't act like Rivers I don't care either.

I've heard both good and bad things split fifty fifty. I suspect he's young confident and therefore arrogant and has some douche-bag in him. I haven't heard of him reaching Elway status where he was a downright a-hole to people, but the way this region worships the Broncos and hounds their stars and it probably won't be too long.

Look I'm not all that worried about it. I love jay as a player. That said, allow me to go off on a bit of a rant because honestly maybe it does have something to do with the Broncos.
Franchises are made by their reputation. I look at Phil Rivers and I see a jerk...that coupled with LT's whinging and I see a team with a lot of talent but not a huge amount of tact. I can't really get a handle on Cutler. When you lose badly to an 0-3 team after making some game changing mistakes you don't tell the press "We're still the better team". That pissed me off. That's not the Bronco way. Trash talk all you want this is a good team run by good people. You could see it with how we handled Darrent's passing...with how Shanahan reacted in that now famous interview. I just want to know if our QB is as much a douche as Jake the fake or Phil Rivers. |

If I were Cutler I could understand why he might get sick of people. I understand why Elway could be a jerk. Most people suck. I would not enjoy being the person under constant scrutiny where everyone wants something from you... Not only does everyone want something from them, but they expect them to be nice too?
Amazing. If you are a true fan, leave them alone and enjoy the games. |

I don't think anybody can really say for sure unless they've met Cutler in person.
I have seen the most down to earth, easy going athletes become agitated around people. I remember meeting TD in an elevator. He was in a good mood at first and some jackoff had the audacity to ask him to sign a second item after TD already gave him one autograph. The dude kept bugging him for a second autograph, TD eventually obliged, but he left the elevator pretty irritated. And this happened the day before Super Bowl XXXII in San Diego. I think perhaps being a huge huge celebrity in a smaller city will do that to you. He obviously is full of himself, but most kids in those types of positions are. He is not a complete moron, so I suspect he will chill out with some maturity, much like Elway did

Well, and plus, you have to have a bit of a Type A personality to be successful at something like being the QB of an NFL team - as a general rule.
An example. Let's say your buddy invites you to his house for a few games of pool. In the last one, you beat him, and he throws a little tantrum. The next day, you find out he's sold the table. He probably wouldn't be your buddy for long. You'd think he was sort of a douchebag. Well, that story, from a fan's perspective, is part of Elway's legend. Would you have it any other way? |

I agree that what Culter has on the field is probably the result of a huge amount of self confidence in general and a competitive grit that perhaps could only translate into being a jerk off the field.
Still, I wish he'd lay off on the comments (especially after he throws two interceptions). |

Seeing some of his tantrums on the sideline and the comments after the KC game and the word petulant comes to mind.

It could also be bleedover from Shanahan's manic personality. In any case if he wins, people will live with it and call it 'character'. If he loses people will hate it and call him a jerk.
Of course, he and Rivers could mud wrestle in a 'pit of death.' ![]() |

As long as he's a good teammate and stays out of legal troubles, he can be a bit of an ass if he wants. People are people.

As long as his teammates like him, that is all I care about.
Scheff loves him and him and Marshall are friends. I have not heard any complaints from teammates. He prolly is a bit arrogant, but he wasnt drafted for his manners. |

There was the one time when he threw himself on the ground and started kicking it with his feet and pounding it with his fists. Then, he flipped open and held his breath - blowing out his cheeks like a puffer fish.
It was his rookie season, if I remember correctly. I read something afterwards about it having to do with Shanahan taking away his mp3 player during games. |

i was out in Denver for the Chargers game.....pretty much all I asked about was how and in what capacity people met Broncos' players....
i heard Jay Cutler is a really cool guy....played beer pong with a few of my buddies' co-workers and he was down to earth and just an all around nice guy also had friends who ran into Brandon Marshall and he was with 4 blondes... good for him...he needs to get over that she-devil |

He's an entitled brat is what he is.
But who cares? I dont want his autograph (its not just him, I dont care to have anyone's autograph), I just want him to not **** up on gameday. He has the God given right to be an a-hole. And we have the God given right to be a-holes right back especially after he costs us a game. |
