Default Kiffen Fired!!

Just heard it on 1360 - Chris Mortenson reporting that it's official. Hopefully he gets his money! Good luck Lane

Who do you guys think will get the nod to take over? I've heard rumors that James Lofton went there to take over once Kiffin was let go.

Here's the link to the ESPN story: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3617977

This will most certainly go to the lawyers now. Depending on how his contract is worded, he may not get the money owed through the remainder of his contract. His behavior and comments to the press over the past 6 months or so were clearly insubordinate and could be grounds for termination without pay.....again, depending on the language in the contract.

Curious, in what capacity could we bring him on? While I get we like to stick it to Al, bringing Kiffen on does not seem to make much sense on the surface. Enlighten me

Why would the commish get involved? It's a coache's choice to work for Al Davis.

Does Kiffin know D? Does he hold the secrats to the elusive "3 point stance" some pass rushing gurus have unearthed?

Kiffin was the offensive coordinator at USC before Al hired him. His father is Monte Kiffin, the long time defensive coordinator for Tampa Bay.

Promote another "yes man" Al!! That is the only way this team is gonna get better.

Greasy Al: "I want you to draft the Heisman Trophy winner every year, period."

Yes-man: "As you wish, master."

There really isn't anyway to do it. I do quietly wonder to myself if Jeremy Bates isn't hired away as the offensive coordinator for a team next year. That would allow Kiffin to come in, but beyond that there's nothing. I suppose if Herm or Norv get fired that Kiffin would be a good fit there too. He'll probably just be a head coach at a college somewhere.

Yeah, I knew he was Monte's son, wasn't sure if he was "switch hitter" like Bates' son or something though Did he run the tampa 2 at usc or does he have his own system?

Heres the best comment so far at profootballtalk.com

"Rumor has it that Al Davis will announce that his new name is Tanya and the team will be renamed the Sunshine Carpet Cleaners from Oakland."

Who cares if he doesnt know defense!?!?!
Just calling his pops and getting a handwritten drawing of the "Tampa 2" from the phone conversation is better than what DEN has right now!
Bring him in, he CANT POSSIBLY do any worse than what we have.
And i do remember both him and Sarkisian always being considered just all around super knowledgeable football guys. just saying.....
