The server is LIGHTNING FAST right now ... (10 am Pacific Time Tuesday). Never seen it faster.

TJ upgraded significantly a month ago ... I think the Saints game traffic prolly overloaded the server. But now that they understand the traffic load, I doubt it'll happen again. They'll be ready next time.

The same thing happened last Sunday too. If that didn't teach them anything, I don't think the last few days would either.

I talked with our support and they have diagnosed the problem as a faulty SATA Controller. They say that we might experience some down time as they replace the controller.

I'm not happy it went down, but at the same time, the last host wouldn't have diagnosed the problem so quickly. It would have taken months before they recognized that it was a hardware problem and gotten it fixed, so provided they correct the issue, I'm pleased.

My question is why doesn't this happen to any other site? Like {name of site to keep secret in case Casino notices}, the excellent but inferior to here site where we all went while this was down?

It proves what an amazing site you have built Taco that we all get so pissed when it goes away, so don't think i am being a dick, i was honestly just wondering.

It's more common than you might think - at least among home grown message boards that become popular. I've talked with several web masters who have had similar experiences. In fact, the most commonly asked question between web masters is "who is your host," because folks are always on the look.

For the more "corporate" sites, they avoid this kind of thing through server redundancy - very expensive...

True dat. As soon as TJ switched, I was asking him who was his new host and how he felt about it...

So, Taco... have you talked to anyone about it? Should we pretty much expect the place go south on Sundays from here out?
