Honest question.
There is one basic principle at the core of our country's political dichotomy. What level of governmental regulation do we want in our lives? If you want to see economic regulation and civil deregulation you have the democratic party (or even more extreme, the green party). If you want both economic and civil deregulation you have the libertarian party. Used to be if you wanted economic deregulatoin and civil regulation you had the republican party. But now McCain is saying he's for economic and civil regulations, despite being against both previously. He's basically doing nothing but blowing smoke. He's a polymorphic candidate who changes his stances faster than most people change underwear. So what rationale is there for voting for him? Obama? He's my horse in this race, obviously. Barr? Sure, he's a ****ty libertarian but at least he sticks with a steady message and is closer to his party's traditions than McCain. Nader? Again a pick I can understand. Green party? Sure, I'm all for legalized weed. But McCain seriously doesn't even have a real platform. He's bait and switching so fast its getting comical. So can someone please give a legitimate reason for electing an economic lame duck who has no legitimate goals for presidency other than "winning the war" that we're now already in talks about ending? |

Why not answer the question instead of deflecting? It was real simple. McCain isn't conclusively for anything, he changes his stances time and time again. Opposes economic regulation, not calling for more regulation. Opposed overturning Roe V. Wade, now saying he would, etc. etc.. So what are you voting for other than a POW story and a (R) following his name? |

If you vote McCain in, and the congress is Democrat, we have gridlock. This should be the most positive for the dollar, as nothing will get done, and be the least wasteful spending IMHO.

Except whoever gets in will pick at least 2 Supreme Court Justices!
McCain would appoint super conservative right wing guys that will overturn Roe v Wade as soon as it can be brought up, impose the Republican version of the Free Market rules and set the country up for 30 years of BS before they could be thrown out. Not to mention the lower court appointments that Set the whole system up to support that kind of interpretation. Palin would appoint even WORSE. And McCain probably won't make it through his term. The Religious right would be ecstatic...she could push the button and bring on the Rapture with one simple act. I don't really think McCain is even truly religious...he just says what he needs to get elected. But Palin scares me....It would be the equivalent of the ayatollah taking over Iran. Religion has NO place in governent.....Look what its done to the Middle East. |

Gordon Gecko wasn't right....Greed is not Good. Actually, what really ticks me off about Bush/ Cheney and his cronies is that they think they are going to get a way with all the BS and crap they have pulled over the last 8 years. And It REALLY pisses me off that they probably will, especially if McCain gets elected. And it REALLY REALLY pisses me off that the country I was raised to believe in, the rights of man, and the constitution, and the fact that the United States of America actually used to STAND for something, are no more than snappy slogans used to fool the voters into supporting one candidate or the other. The election has been turned into "Survivor, lie, cheat, steal" by the mass media. Sound bites and Oprah interviews. Anyway , I 'm pissed and I want someones head on a platter, starting with W, and working down the line. Not gonna get it, so the best I can do is try to screw his party over best I can. |

I watched the chuggers game at Fox Sports Grill with two doctors who relocated here from Denver recently. They told me malignant melanoma is especially nasty, and that they are absolutely certain it will recur at some point. The fourth time is definite4ly not the last, they were certain of it, and one was an oncologist. He said it never goes away.
Plus, you know how the presidency ages guys? GW looks 20 years older now than in 2000 ... now imagine McCain ![]() |

Mindless puppets they can control, e.g., Reagan, Dubya, and now Caribou Barbie. I wouldn't be surprised if they were counting on Turtle Head not finishing his first term. |

And I also don't "hate" the Republicans that post here either. I try never to insult or denigrate others, although I called someone an idiot , the other day. I try to post facts as I see them, just as many here do. We are all passionate about the course of our country, and when others make points about one candidate or another I try to listen. And valid points are made on both sides. In my opinion though , the balance sheet has to be weighed heavily to the results which are affecting us all, and the Republicans come up lacking a lot more than the Dems. I also care DEEPLY about the constitution and the rule of LAW, and I am insulted that the other side refuses to see the damage that Bushes administration has done to those things. Neither side is perfect, but the Dems at least try most of the time. And Wags , which prick are you talking about? I know you say both are bad choices , but if forced to choose from the two, and ONLY them , which would YOU choose? And please don't run out your standard answer about not voting for them....treat this as a hypothetical no other choice available scenario. |

I was wondering if you would commit. You gave your standard answer.
We discussed this a couple years ago, and not much is different. You see things in absolutes, as far as it goes, and find both unacceptable. Your right to do as you please, its your vote. |
