I haven't read the farmers almanac myself, but I've heard a couple different times that it's supposed to be a colder than usual winter. It snowed above 10K feet in Colorado in August, it's not THAT unusual but I think it's a sign of a colder winter.

It'll be longer if our team doesn't make the playoffs.

Hard to say. Two years ago we had our first blizzard like conditions on Sept 15th and it was a pretty mild winter. Last year winter came late and it was a record snow fall up here. I'd be fine with a bit more global warming my way this winter.

Man, I love this time of year.

We're due for a bad winter out here snow-wise. The last few have been fairly mild. Temp-wise? Who knows. It was a pretty cold and rainy summer with the exception of 2 or 3 weeks, so all I'm hoping for is a good fall.
