Default Here Comes Ike

Hope our Broncos brethren on the Texas Coast are clearing out. (Beerslug?) Looks like this thing is headed for Corpus Christi. Stay safe down there. It might be a 3 by the time it gets to Texas.

I'm keeping a close watch on this storm. I coming home from Germany on Saturday and my connection is in Dallas. Hopefully the heavy rains and winds stay enough south of Dallas until Sunday.

A computer model used by the National Hurricane Center forecast a shift 100 miles north, "right into Houston/Galveston with a Category 4" storm, said NBC meteorologist Bill Karins.

If it kicks up to a four and comes straight into Galveston it won't be a glancing blow. It will be head on. I wouldn't want to be there.

Maybe this means we will get the Broncos game on CBS rather than the Texans since the game has been moved. If we have electricity!

My mom cant leave. She works in a hospital.

What, you want the hospital people to leave all the sick and injured just laying there?

She'll be OK, the hospital is well protected and the thing about Galveston is you dont have to worry about the storm surge so much due to the seawall.

No, the map now shows the Jets-Pats. They've got to show Favre.

CNN now says Ike has changed course for a direct hit on Houston, still saying people staying in one or two story homes face certain death if they refuse to evacuate. 22 ft. or more strom surge.

The seawall is 20 feet high in most places in Galveston.

Which means the storm surge hitting the city direct will only be about 2 feet or so.

It will do some damage assuming it stays as strong as it says, but it wont be as bad as what happened to that ****hole called New Orleans.

More concerning is the Galveston bay which is not protected by the seawall. The ship channel which runs from the bay all the way to basically downtown houston should be flooded but it wont be nearly as bad as what hits galveston head on.

That of course, does not mean there wont be incredible damage, only that the damage should not be nearly as bad even if it does get to a higher strength hurricane than it currently is.

Maybe we could do a help a fellow bronco fans family out; those of us like myself who have an extra bedroom to spare can help family members of those members on the mane. And might help with cost of hotels and stuff (near Memphis). Plus love ones could stay in touch with family in the west or north. And keep up to date with news and that part of it And then we like myself could crash at one of the Denver natives on game day and day after as needed to travel back to the Mid south. I myself would not mind hosting a family on the orange mane in the security of being more main land and with access to free long distance and internet therefore helping a fellow broncos family out. Better then a shelter or motels and hotels. Just a thought.
