Default ESPN: Alridge to do some damage in 2008

As far as I can tell, this was posted today at ESPN.com -- wasn't Alridge put on IR 5 days ago? Nice to get some love for one of our boys, but geez....

http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3555986

Here are four guys you've never heard of who might make some noise in 2008.

ANTHONY ALRIDGE, RB, BRONCOS
Just like the two guys ahead of him on the depth chart (Selvin Young and Andre Hall), the lightning-quick Alridge signed as an undrafted FA. And while he's been MIA this preseason with an ankle injury, remember that Mike Shanahan isn't afraid to give chances to the unknown.

Make noise as in cheering from the sidelines while on IR?

Jesus, what BUFFOONS...They would do better talking about Hillis if they want a sleeper, or Torian late in the year.

He looked by far the best RB in pre-season...i wish they would have given him a chance with the starters...he made his cuts and hit the hole better than anyone else imo..i'm glad he made the team, i hope to see him at some point in the season. How long is he out??

I like Alridge. He is going to be a player, and the broncos hid him on IR. Not sure how valid the injury is.

That is exactly what I was thinking... Its a common thing.. put a player on IR instead of trying to get them on your practice squad. Granted you lose them for the season but you don't have to worry that about some other team picking them up.

The Broncos were at their max at RB anyway, what better way to shelve Alridge.

yeah I'm sure they talked it over..."listen kid, either we cut you now and you try to play with a gimpy foot on another team this year, or we shelve you for a year and you're guaranteed to be in the mix next year"...I know which one I would want!

They have a picture of Alridge. If they had a picture of Torain and a write-up on Alridge it would make more sense.

Almost every sportswriter is an idiot when discussing 31 of 32 NFL teams.

No idea when he wrote it -- but the first time that any of us found out about the foot injury is when he was put on IR, which was the day after the game. Meaning the reporter SHOULD have known it as well....

Because the guys that write it don't put up the web page and do their own pictures. The guy that does it probably read the article and put up a picture to go along with then name.

That or they're all idiots. CBS4 did a special on "rising defensive tackle Tyler Polumbus" and how he was going to shore up the run defense this year.
