So, my travel schedule for work demands that I be at our Silicon Valley office next week, I fly in on Monday night and was considering finding a ticket to the game...
My question is... How bad are the Oakland crazies? I've never been to game there... Will I leave the black hole with both both knees intact? Should I bother finding a ticket or just belly up to the hotel bar and drink like a fish? (I am on an expense account after all) |

It's not that bad. I went to the 2006 game there and had a blast. There was a lot of **** talking going on but it was all in good fun.

If you keep a low profile... you will be fine... Just don't be cheering for the Broncos in any way.. enjoy the game and laugh to yourself as you watch the Raider Fans meltdown.

I heard tucking a phone book into your shirt stops the shanks fairly well.

Does anyone know if you can use the BART from SFO airport to get over to McAfee stadium?

In re-reading my post, I think I came off as a p*ssy... SO not my intention. My point in asking was really more along the lines of: Do I deal with the hassle of finding a ticket, traffic, parking, etc just to have some asshat faider fan ruin my night by being a douche?

Oh no it's a guy with rubber spikes glued to some shoulder pads....SCARY
One of my biggest regrets in life was that the Fade was still in LA when I was stationed at Alameda in the 90's. At least I got to watch the games at Ricky's in San Leandro, which was Raider D-Bag central back then. |

I went to the game at the ****-hole back in the 90s... didn't wear my team colors and still almost got major trouble, despite never saying a peep to anyone.
I can handle myself, but not against crowds of people... and those goons are so ****ing stupid over there you just never know when it's going to go down. It's truly a prison atmosphere full of the kinds of people you'd expect. It was interesting once... but I wouldn't make a habit of it. The risk/reward just isn't good enough for me to bother. |

I have heard both good and bad from the horses mouth.
But SD last year was brutal as well. But I would imagine it would be rough in Oakland as a rival fan. |

In what sense?
I did notice the "fans" down in SD were a little more mouthy the last time I went down. They beat us, so that's to be expected... but we got some ****, which is totally fine... but I did have my 11 year old son (at the time) with me. Generally, classy fans are respectful of young kids when firing off obscenities at you. Then again, what can you expect from a bunch of newbie "fans" who've never won anything and only recently discovered the game. I can't wait for the doltz to return to mediocrity so I can get my good seats back down there. |

Tacking on another 3 to 5 in the pen isn't too big of a concern for some of those tards. Actually it means more time they get to spend with their families.

I live out here and I won't go nor would I take my kids all of which is a bummer by the way. Find a good sports bar and enjoy better cheaper beer without the hassle. FWIW Mile hi has the same sort of rep out here.

Yes you can. There will be a lot of raider fans on the Bart trains so try not to get into a fight. We took the Bart to the game in 2004 (or was it 2005) and survived. It was a lot of fun. I remember they honored Carlos Santana who unfortunately is a raiders fan, at halftime. I also remembered that we killed them which made the rain bearable. Have fun at the game. Wish we were going too. |

I live in the Bay area. If you go, do not root for the broncos or wear broncos colors. Games in Oakland are full of drunk low lifes who will hurt you if given the chance. Games in Denver are a walk in the park comparatively. Bart is the best way to get to the game, the train drops you off a short walk from the stadium. I took my daughter to a game last year. We went to the concession stands at a break and two guys were fighting with a large crowd gathered around cheering. What surprised me was how long it took security to arrive. Davis puts no money into the stadium, securtiy or fan experience.
