Basically, a thread about the Chiefs skipping the National Anthem because of a delay in the final preseason game. Don't know if it really happened, but some of the other comments caught my eye. For instance, someone saying "Why do we need to take our hats off" and why does it need to be played. I'm sorry, but that is our damn National Anthem and it is supposed to represent how hard people worked so we can play and see these sporting events. Show some respect for our country. |

Coming from people who disrespectfully yell "home of the Chiefs" at the end of the national anthem, this kind of attitude doesn't surprise me at all.

Big deal as most are in Kansas thinking that was the safest place to hide from the draft..... in World War 2. Just look at our national pastime. THey have baseball right there in their state and never go. The ROyals suffer for their states lack of respect for country.

There are a few classy people over there, but for the most part that board is full of the stereotypical ignorant redneck idiots that make up the Chiefs fanbase. |

Even I stood up and took my hat off when I went to Tampa to see the Broncos. And I'm not even american, but you have to have respect for a national anthem and all it represents to the people of that particular country.

The royals suffer from the fact that Kansas City, MISSOURI is the red-headed step child of MO. Both the Chiefs and the Royals are in MO and I don't claim anything from that state. |

True story. Denver at KC in 2005. I went with my brother in law and his uncle who live in Overland Park. It was freezing cold so I didn't have any Bronco gear on except a Bronco stocking cap.
The game ended and we were sitting around our car waiting for traffic to clear out. A druken, mulleted Chef fan, wearing bright orange hunting overalls covered in puke, stopped when he saw our CO license plate. He jumped on our car and screamed something like "Donkeys Suck." My brother in law said something that I don't recall, while I said "how original" meaning his lame trash talk was just that, lame. He glared at us, and stumbled over to cause trouble. He was probably about 6-2. I'm 5-8 while my brother in law is probably 6-4. Obviously the guy decided to pick a fight with me as opposed to taking on someone his own size. I didn't back away in fear, rather I stepped back to avoid the stench of puke. I may be on the short side but I'm very capable of defending myself. Besides, he was so wasted he probably saw three of me. The mullet pointed his finger in my face and babbled again, I stood my ground and laughed at him. By now a nice sized crowd began to assemble. It ended up being a non-event. Meanwhile, the other KC fans started to give the guy a hard time, and were obviously embarrassed to see one of their own acting like such a jackass. The guys who were parked next to us shared a couple of beers and we hung out. I was surprised though because for a minute I thought a full on brawl was going to break out. I guess the moral of the story is there are idiot fans/people wherever you go. I'm sure there are many KC fans that are embarrassed by this lack of respect for our flag and anthem. |

Yeah, but at least rednecks for the most part are patriotic... Chiefs fans are a different breed (or inbreed) altogether

I am not going to bash their right to their opinons. I think they are wrong, but that's America.
What I would consider is a change in the National Anthem to "America the Beautiful". When it is sung during the seventh inning stretch, it is awesome. It is also "singable", if you know what I mean, and there are no questions in the lyrics. Moreover, it has a prayer in it, and represents the crowning glory of the spirit of this country. An anthem before the games? Yeah, but not the "Star Spangled Banner". Go for "America the Beautiful"..... |

That right there is one of the reasons I'll NEVER NEVER NEVER jump on the Chiefs bandwagon, even though I just live an hour away from KC. The lack of respect for our national anthem is not funny. It's just appalling...

First of all, The Royals are in Misery. Second of all, you will hardly find a more loyal people to this country than you will in Kansas. These are, for the most part, farming people who hate the government but love this country. You know, a GOOD American. Meanwhile, people in California think everyone outside of California is backwards and that we should all be socialist Frenchies. The most disloyal people in this country come from Berkeley california, and there is NO DOUBT about that. |
