Default McCain leads in daily tracking Gallup poll. 46-44

Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Aug. 23-25, the first three-day period falling entirely after Obama's Saturday morning vice presidential announcement, shows 46% of national registered voters backing John McCain and 44% supporting Obama, not appreciably different from the previous week's standing for both candidates. This is the first time since Obama clinched the nomination in early June, though, that McCain has held any kind of advantage over Obama in Gallup Poll Daily tracking.

No one is pushing any buttons. One part of this equation many pollsters want to ignore is the fact that many of Obama's supporters are younger voters who live by the cell phone. Mnay do not own the typical "house phone" which is being canvassed to "conjure up" the results of these polls.

Pat yourself on the back for another useless poll posting!

That's excactly what I'm referring to. Both of my sons live on the cell phones, one has a house phone but I don't think he ever uses it. They are both registered voters who intend to vote for Obama.

Gallup keeps calling those who still use the old rotary phones and expect to get representative data. Doesn't compute for me.

On MSNBC, I heard on reporter state that without FACEBOOK, Obama is not there. These kind of polls are going to be obsolete. Tell me how many hits there websites have... Now that might give you something more close to the truth...

Think about it. This years graduating high school class was born in 1990. The internet, cell phone, and PC have always been apart of their lives. They are also lazy and won't stand in line to vote either.

It'll be tight no matter who wins it in the end. Bottom line is lots of folks out there just don't know who they want. In any case, I just can't get behind polls these days. Log your vote, and see if your man wins, it's as simple as that...dman

It will be very close -- those that think otherwise have fallen for their own hype. Obama does have an advantage with younger voters right now, I think that Obama has been not as strong with female voters as Dems have in the past (that is what I have heard anyway.)

I think that McCain tries to get Liberboring to be his VP, but if he chooses a good woman VP, McCain may position himself better than going the liberal/center route.

The reason it's a big deal is Barry used to have a double digit lead in the majority of polls about 3-4 months ago. So it shows that the race is tightening and the next 3 months are going to be very important for both candidates, since any "slip-up" could mean the election.

Yea, but didn't you get the memo? Only old, rich right, wing conservatives answer their phone and respond to polls.

you all like to tout these same polls when it paints Bush's approval rating low. What gives? Are they somewhat accurate or not? You can't have it both ways like the liberals on this board like to have it.

They want tolerance, as long as you agree with them. They want to point to polls and approval rating only when it agrees with there message like global warming or Bush is evil.

You could call an outhouse on a phone made with two soup cans and a string and Bushs' approval rating would be low, unless you reach one of his sheep.
