Default Direct TV Vs. Dish Network?

Ok TV Gurus' help me out here...what are the Pros/Cons...what do you recommend? This girl doesn't even have cable...I don't watch that much TV...but with the HDTV deal and pretty much needing a new TV, I thought I'd break down and possibly do Direct TV with the Sunday Ticket...Thoughts?

Oh yeah...and throw in your pros/cons on tv's too

If you want the Sunday Ticket, then DirecTV is the only option.

For most of 2008, DirecTV has been kicking Dish's butt on the number of HD channels, but I 'think' now they both have most of the major channels in HD.

I have been with DirecTV for 18 years or so (can't remember for sure) and have had Sunday Ticket since the day they launched it. I would never leave DirecTV as long as they are the only option for NFLST, because it is the only way for me to watch EVERY Broncos game.

One thing, if you do, make sure you get the DirecTV rep to throw in free Superfan (the HD part of NFLST). Also, I think if you agree to sign up for NFLST, you should be able to get a free HD DVR and free Super fan.

I will try and check out some of the DVR forums (dbstalk.com, avsforum.com and tivocommunity.com) tomorrow to see what the current deals are for new customers.

They had free HD DVR but Superfan was an extra 24.95 a month.

I used to have Adelphia "switched before it became time warner" and i live live a 1/4 mile from the office where the satellites actually are , can almost see the Big Fing things from my house ... so you would think i should have got good service ... but hell no , bet it was out 5 times a month for over a hour a pop ...

So broke down 3 years ago and got Direct tv just so i could watch all the broncos games more then really for the better service , i even thought the satellite would be less stable then cable ...

Boy was i wrong ... in 4 years it has never been down longer then 30 mins , and it is so much more stable , like with cable you get a good storm and that crap might be gone 5 hours or more ... none of that bs with the dish ... never even had to call them , not once ... where with cable i talked to them so much we traded Xmas cards .

DirecTV all the way. I hate them but they're the best choice.
