The draft nicks had us taking Chad Jackson at 15 overall in 2006. The Patriots drafted him in the 2nd and now he is out of the NFL.

Its not a matter of Jackson sucks. Its that Royal was just as good a choice for Denver. If people haven't gotten a clue this team won't take chances on questionable people anymore. Marshall is the last one with character issues.

You cannot win the argument that Jackson was more highly rated than Royal, he was, so stop wasting keystrokes.......

I was glad we took Royal over Jackson, and I still like Royal.

But man Jackson has been a flat out stud so far, which is suprising because I figured he would be another Antwan Randle El

I think Royal was drafted over Jackson because of his Blocking skills. When it comes down to it I'd rather have a guy that can hold a block than one that gets a few big plays against a really ****ty St. Louis team.

Chad Jackson and others......So you are comparing Desean Jackson, who had almost 200 all purpose yards today with someone who missed his rookie year and didn't see the field last year..I see your point.......

This is a comparison of 2 players of similar skills sets, with one more highly regarded than the other, and the fact that we chose the lesser regarded of the two with the HIGHER choice as compared to the team that picked the more highly regarded player.......

He did it all preseason, including a punt return TD against NE. He is the REAL DEAL.

I agree, Royal is a solid player, but he is not as explosive. I had no idea that DeSean would be consistent AND explosive this early in his career. I figured he would be good for a ST TD or two this year and an able 3rd WR. But he has really stood out. I hope that Eddie has 2 TDs and 150 yards tomorrow night to shut me up.......

You talk like Royal did nothing in the preseason. But in an Shanny system not only did he grasp the playbook but he made plays and blocked on running downs.

I am going to go ahead and call it. Jackson becomes this boards next Ed Reed.

The HUGE difference is that Royal and Jackson play the same position and fill the same skills set needs--explosion at the WR/KR/PR positions ,whereas Ass-ley and Reed did not. I bet that I was not the only Bronco' fan miffed on draft day when we passed Jackson for Royal..hopefully, Eddie proves us wrong.

I was confused but I thanked God they didn't drafted Jackson. Too many questions with that cat. Royal obviously will never be anything in your eyes but I bet he becomes a great WR for Denver.

I think talking about consistency through one game is a little silly.

Some of us were calling him a p***Y back then (baseball slide in bowl game to avoid a hit) and wanted no part of him.

Yea, to my knowledge he had some off the field issues they may have been a factor in us passing him up. Never the less, Royal will do and be fine. If people want to jump on Jackson's jock then let them.

Im happy with Royal so far. But I will say I was pissed when we took him over D.Jackson (of course I would have been mad with that pick too, when we needed a Mlb and SS).

I think that this take is underappreciated.

DeSean is a budding problem by all indications.

All that Shanahan needs is a running buddy for Marshall that accompanies him through every aspect of team responsibilities.

I'm pretty certain this thread won't cure the front office of any perceived ills.

Nice game by Jackson. But even if he has a huge season I doubt I'll that the Broncos drafted Royal. He has talent and is the kind of player you pull for. Here's hoping he fulfills our expectations for him.

Not taking guys lacking good judgement in their personal life is a good thing. But picking second teamers from other teams and expecting them to start is another issue.
I know of three of them just this year.

I'll gamble on the lack of character guy with above average talent versus the solid citizen with average talent.
You pay either way and from the looks of things we got more playing time out of the lack of charcter ones, so far anyway. I guess we'll see.
