Default Nalen will have knee scoped again

Nalen To Have Knee Scoped Again

Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced after Wednesday’s practice that veteran center Tom Nalen will have his knee scoped on Thursday. Nalen underwent a similar procedure in the offseason.

“What we are going to do is have Tom get his knee cleaned up a little bit — more preventative than anything else,” Shanahan said. “It hasn’t healed the way we would have liked.”

Nalen was held out of much of training camp due to soreness in left knee. Shanahan said he hopes after having this procedure that Nalen will be ready in time for the regular season.

“Hopefully it’s nothing serious and can alleviate some of the swelling and the pain and hopefully he is ready to go by the first game.”

It's really great that Denver could sign a great player like Weigmann as a backup. Shanny deserves props for this.

You knew it was a bad sign that he was hobbling around..not a good sign..Not sure if a scope is going to make any difference at this point...We need are center to be able to scrape and pick up LB's...Hopefully Nails will get some added mobility with this procedure but it's probably not a likely he'll be back to normal.

Well, that's what WiegmanVonLeichtenstine are for. Let Nalen retire, hang around and rehab without taking a roster spot, and be ready to be resigned in an instant if we need him.

I think Shanahan learned his lesson after banking on Lepsis last year. Great move bringing in Weigmann so we can easily pull Nalen if he's getting pushed around. Then again, Weigmann is pretty old and battle worn himself.

not bad with the offseason signing of Weigmann...man, I really start to think about how this guy will walk after football...would hate to see such a competitor be wheelchair ridden or relying on a cane

The article says they hope to have him ready for the Oakland game. I don't see that happening. Even if he was ready, Shanny won't let him play.

Yep, makes the Weigmann singing appear to be that much more shrewd.

God I'm so happy we let Myers go and brought in Casey. If we get in a pinch, we could always start Holland at RG and move Kuper back over to LG with Hamilton playing C.

Great post!! I never thought about Meyers starting.... Yeah that was a very good move by Shanny. He signed Weigmann much cheaper than what Meyers was signed for and he is better.

Well it sounds like Nalen is probably done.

Does this mean Lichtensteiger makes the team for sure now?

We have a very young offense though.

Yea Weigmann has experience and hes a slight upgrade, but Meyers played very solid last season and is still young. Weigmann is a rental, where Meyers was our potential replacment for Nalen. I know sundquist was on the way out but I still belive Meyers deal not getting done was one of the main reasons he got fired.

this Wiegman signing looks even better considering this news and Casey's tremendous play so far in the preseason.

Uggggghhhhh.

The last guy that went for a clean up was told he needed micro-fracture... that guy is now getting owned by 4th string corners in Oak-town.

Hopefully Weigmann can play a full season.

Has anyone watched Lichtensteiger much thus far in preseason? How does he look?
