Well, its slow here and while a few are wondering what could have been with Hixon still in DEN
, i for 1 am wondering if Selvin Young can tote the rock for an entire year.Observers said he put on 20 lbs in the offseason which then went to 10 lbs and from the looks of him, he doesnt appear to play any bigger than he did last year. To me, he does not look like Terrel either. Just my take, and it doesnt make him any less of a player or possibly effective, but i did notice that he seemd to be light when he ran. He didnt have a great performance vs. DAL, but he only got the ball a few times and some of the plays were swing passes out of the backfield and sometimes those can be tough with players bearing down on you.HE just does not seem to be a guy who can run in between the tackles and take a beating all year. I am not saying that Selvin is a bad player or has no future in the NFL, but i wonder if DEN is possibly looking to upgrade at the RB position with Torains injury as well. I like Hall as well, but again can both of these guys really get thetough yards when DEN needs them? By Jim Thomas ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 08/18/2008 http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/spo...1?OpenDocument Despite rumblings over the weekend that there might be some movement on the Steven Jackson front, sources familiar with the negotiations — or lack thereof — say there was no dialogue between the Rams and Jackson's agent save for a brief phone call Friday between the parties. So the holdout continues. As of Sunday, the Pro Bowl running back had missed 24 days of training camp and the preseason, 24 practices and two preseason games. At $15,116 per day, his fine total stands at $362,784 — or just under the minimum base salary for a second-year NFL player. For the first time, Rams coach Scott Linehan conceded Sunday that time is of the essence in getting Jackson ready for the season opener Sept. 7 in Philadelphia. "It is getting critical to where time now becomes more of an issue for just the physical part of getting ready for the opener," Linehan said. "Every day we miss now … does start to factor in as to what the workload will be from the start. "I know he's working hard. And I know he's training. And he'll be in very good shape when he does get in." END OF ROAD FOR RONNIE BROWN? Posted by Mike Florio on August 18, 2008, 10:49 p.m. EDT At a time when the new regime in Miami is thinking about throwing overboard a second-round pick from 2007, could they also be contemplating parting ways with the No. 2 overall pick from the 2005 draft? Per Chris Mortensen of ESPN (via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald), it’s possible that Fins tailback Ronnie Brown could be playing elsewhere in 2008. Mort says that Brown has been “struggling” in the preseason. Meanwhile, Ricky Williams has been looking like he’s poised for a late-career rebirth. Brown is due to earn a base salary of $3.65 million in 2008. Williams is scheduled to earn only $730,000. If the Fins move Brown, it’s the surest sign of Bill Parcells’ intention to turn the organization upside down. And, frankly, it’s exactly what the organization needed. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/...-ronnie-brown/ SO what the hell, i figure its slow in here, lets get some input as to the RB position and if any of you think it could posibly be worthy of maybe a "madden trade" to upgrade! Flame away!!!!!!!!! Last edited by socalorado; 08-19-2008 at 08:29 AM.. |

Pretty surprising about Ronnie Brown. It would have been nice if they clarified if he is struggling because of the system or because of the ACL. I heard an interview with him last week, though, and he said the knee was fine.
That dude is a great all around back. At $3 million base he could be a bargain.... I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin... |

Ronnie Brown would probably take a "Javon deal" based on performance incentives and play time (since he is coming off an injury).
Steven Jackson will want a huge payday - LT money or more. We can't afford Jackson. Brown would be a great pickup - i wonder if we could trade for him before he hits the open market? |

woah now, they said he might be playing somewhere else in 2008. That in no way indicates they will be releasing him. Perhaps they may take a little less than his supposed value in a trade, but they won't just give him away.

lol, Ronnie Brown sucks? Ronnie Brown when healthy is a top 8 back in the league. In only 7 games last year, he had 600 yards rushing, a ypc of 5.1 and 4 TD's. Couple that with 39 catches for 389 yards and 1 TD receiving.
Pretty freakin good for someone playing in Miami's offense. I'm scared of his injury history though. Steven Jackson, I'm skeptical of him. I wonder if he will wear down pretty quick or not. |

Hell, I wouldn't give up any pick to get Brown. I don't like trading for injury riddled players.

Just grow our own. Let's make do with Young/Hall/Aldridge RBBC until Torain gets healthy. Either this season or next.

I wouldn't give up anything for Ronnie Brown, Unless Aldridge is more injured than we know off I wouldn't even try to sign him as a free agent.
I would rather go for someone with less talent but more durability. Just a general comment, man some teams look stupid for drafting 3 runningbacks in the top 5 picks in 2005. Cedric Benson is out of a job, Ronnie Brown could be out of a job and Whatshisface from Tampa may never play again. |

I'm skeptical of our current backs. I think they will hold their own in most games...but not in the big games. Do we really think we can count on Young and Hall against the Bolts or Patriots etc.? I don't think so.
Therefore, I for one...believe we should be considering all options. Ronnie Brown is a big risk. Backs don't typically come back the year after a knee injury and play up to their potential...it is usually not until their 2nd year back that they return to form. That being said...nonone knows backs better than Turner...so, I have to have confidence, that however this situation turns out...we're going to be o.k. |

RICKY TOPS RONNIE ON DOLPHINS’ DEPTH CHART
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 19, 2008, 11:05 a.m. EDT Adding fuel to the reports that running back Ronnie Brown could be on the way out in Miami is the Dolphins’ own depth chart, which lists Brown as the No. 2 back, behind Ricky Williams. Teams’ online depth charts in August don’t necessarily correspond with the way the squad lines up on the field in September. And the same depth chart lists rookie Chad Henne as the No. 4 quarterback behind starter Chad Pennington and backups Josh McCown and John Beck, even though Henne is virtually guaranteed of a roster spot whereas either McCown or Beck will most likely be gone by the end of the month. But the Dolphins’ previous depth chart (which is still available at NFL.com) showed Brown ahead of Williams. Something happened to make the Dolphins change course and put Williams in the top spot. For the team’s part, the Dolphins say Williams moved up on the depth chart because Brown probably won’t play in the team’s next preseason game, Saturday night against the Chiefs. But Brown is still listed ahead of other running backs on the roster who will play Saturday night. Whether it’s Brown or Williams who starts in Week 1, it’s clear that the current regime running the Dolphins feels no particular need to follow the path of the old regime. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/...s-depth-chart/ |

I agree ... we're fine with RBs. UNLESS Jackson would become available. Steven Jackson makes this a Super Bowl caliber offense... problem is they'd want some very heavy compensation.
