Default DEFENSE? Well?

Where's the analysis?

C'mon, you dopes. Quit slap-fighting with each other and get some analysis going.

I saw two sacks on the stats. Anything noteworthy? How did the DL look? Linebackers? Anyone stand out? Anyone look bad? Anyone make a case for a starting job tonight?

I can't possibly wait until tomorrow afternoon to find this out. I need this information immediately.

I thought overall the defense was decent. Dallas has a very good offense so they did a good job. Niko and Nate are nothing special in the middle though.
Oh and Jarvis Moss sucks. They are much better against the run this year so far. So we shouldnt get gouged like we did last year.

Another ho-hum night for Moss?

Niko got some praise on the other threads. Wonder what people saw?

He didnt play great the entire game... But i remember when we were only rushing 3 Defensive Lineman and Jarvis Moss was the guy who got to the quarterback to force a bad throw. So at least he did something right

he (niko) made some plays and was in on a few stops but hes not as dynamic as we would hope for a middle man

Manuel did pretty well though....he seemed to be where he was supposed to be when he was supposed to be

Engelberger made a nice stop early in the run game.

Moss made a nice sack on Brad Johnson

Pass defense wasn't anything to right home about. No pass rush really.
Foxworth got abused all game, it was bad.
Rush defense was decent. We were horrible defending toss plays though.
I think the rush defense definitely will see a decent improvement, but the pass defense will still be a problem.

I was really impressed (surprised actually) that we stuffed out some reverses and throws to the flat.

It was very good considering the talent level of who we played.

We kept their starting O out of the endzone and Romo checked down a lot. They only converted a few first downs. Brad Johnson made some great throws with Miles Austin making some epic catches that there was really nothing we could have done on. I do think that had Champ played, at least one of those passes isn't complete. Pressure was above average. Run defense was excellent. there was some over-pursuit, but nothing too terrible. We did very well considering this team is the same one that had the third best offenses in the NFL last year.

Basically it looked like what we expected: Offense is unstoppable. D bends a bit but holds enough to let the O take a lead. Special teams was up and down.

We are improved. With a more "strike from anywhere" offense and JMFW returning picks, we can give up 20pts/g...maybe more.

The pass rush was improved (which is a good sign considering the opponent). The pressure didn't lead to a lot of sacks though due to the routes Dallas was running, lots of 4 yard passes to get the ball into the WR hands to run.

That leads into the same weakness the defense has shown in recent years, the short stuff is always there. It may look different with Champ and Bly in there though, they have better play recognition skills and may shut down the quick passes better.

People need to keep perspective here. This wasn't the Chiefs offense (who incidentally managed to get six points in one half against the mighty Cardinals at home tonight) this is the Dallas Cowboys. They're going to get theirs. When you force their first team offense to punt a few teams and only kick a field goal while missing your best Corners, you're doing more right than wrong.

Yeah Foxworth is so overrated it's disgusting. I know he talks big but he made zero plays all night when the ball came his way. He couldn't carry Bly's jock on his best day regardless of what he chirps to the press.

Still not getting the push up front we need.

Maybe Robertson will add some impact once he's ready.

Thomas looks to be somewhat improved.

Kaylore, didn't you hear? The Broncos are the only team that doesn't get sacks on every 3rd down, and the only thing that can help them is a revolving door of rookies.

In all fairness, both to Austin were well defended by Fox and perfect passes.

Seriously. This thread reads like they hung 30 points on us. It's not like they're bad. Good grief they're a Super Bowl team and we out-played them. You take away the two perfect passes Brad Johnson made at the end of the second half and this game is a blowout. They get paid too.

It was hard to gauge our 1st team defense. DJ was flying around making plays and we were stuffing the run...but Romo, TO & Witten only played two series that I can remember and they were playing a pretty vanillia offensive scheme.

Our offense played the entire 1st half...but so did the Dallas Defensive starters.

- Our passing game is on...Cutler spread the ball around nicely and had plenty of time to find his receivers
- Harris and Clady pass protected very well I thought
- Our RB's were average at best...my guess is it has to do with the fact that Dallas is a big defensive front to run on and we're missing Nalen up front calling the assignments.
- Eddie Royal is the real deal...with him, BMarsh, Stokely, Sheff, Jackson, Jackson, Graham & Colbert...this is a dynamic passing squad
- Cutler is the man!
- Thomas and Robertson looked good in run defense and pushed the pocket
- The DE's worked hard to get to the QB and helped in run support
- Kou played o.k. and was around the ball quite a bit
- Prater did o.k....but is still a question mark. I want to see him hit a 50 yder when it counts before I'm sold.
- Our special teams really stunk tonight and need work
- Jack Williams bribed Eddie Royal and the Combine to get Royal's 2nd 40 time...because he is slower than a turtle! The QB chased him down...ouch!
- Beck, Woodyard, Larsen and Barrett all looked good tonight and each made some nice plays.
- Nick Clemons made a nice tackle in the backfield
- Crowder and Moss played well I thought
- Toast got beat alot...that's Foxy I mean
- Paymah looked o.k.
- Manual played well...Mcree was somewhat silent
- Webster did not have a good game
- Hackney should be the 2 QB

That's all I can think of for now. :-)

Agreed. I see people flaming Niko, flaming Moss, flaming Foxy. But when it was all said & done we won and none of these guys did anything worth whining about. Niko was in the right gaps, Moss put on decent pressure and Foxy did good, those 2 passes were just better.

I like Foxy, but he needs to turn around and look at the ball 2x bad plays.

Niko wasn't great, but if he is solid I will be ok.

Moss, I know he has only played 2 games since getting hurt but if he doesnt show something other then a "sack" against 3rd stringers I will be mad at that waste of a pick in 1rd

Harris had a great rebound game after last week. Didn't hear his name mentioned at all, which is a good thing for lineman.

DJ was flying(literally) everywhere. Im exited about him finally being in his natural position.

Kern made a case to be our starting running back.

Winborn was making lots of plays. He plays with lots of energy and flies around like DJ, but not as fast.

JMFW got tripped up by a 3rd string QB.

Andre Hall reminds me of Maurice Jones-Drew. He undersized, but runs with power and speed. And hes a good kickoff returner.

Jay was amazing. Not much more needs to be said.

Eddie Royal made the defender look silly on his first catch. His second catch was awsome.

The defense attacked MUCH better than we've seen in quite awhile. They where really aggressive to the ball. It really showed against the run. There where some points that we left our secondary in 1-on-1 (including Romo overthrowing someone running wide open down the middle of the field).

Overall I'm REALLY happy tho. Tackling is 100000000000000000 times better than last year. They're much more aggressive. They're taking much better angles.

I was impressed by Spencer Larsen. That kid has real instincts. Didn't make any spectacular plays, but he was always in the right spot and seems to always be around the ball.
