Default Jim Armstrong Is HORRIBLE

Man, how can anyone listen to this crap? As if Irv living in the '50's and Williams' bitterness about everything Broncos/Nuggets wasn't bad enough... now Armstrong.. If you eliminated about 15 words from the English language, he wouldn't have a word to say: boys guys fellas c'mon okay my man yada yada. That would do it. He wouldn't have a single thing to say. I don't want to say that he is, among other things, straight up stupid.... but he is. And Williams bitterness, I don't get it. Make_them_go_ away.

Please, 104.3, give us some decent programming.

When I'm in my car now during that time slot, I listen to Gil Whitely on 1510 AM. Gil is damn good.

I have to agree with this. This is their group for the ride home in the afternoon - marquis positions - and they're terrible. I can't listen to Joe. All his does is rip on the home teams and half the time he isn't right. And it's so tired! Does he get any new material? He rips on Marcus Nash being drafted. Good grief that was years ago. Can we move on? He's also a coward. He'll say trash about players and coach's saying he knows better, and then when they're guests on the show he's kissing their sphincter. What a loser.

Jim is trying too hard to be cute and it's not taking. He says things in ways that he didn't say last year in a sing-songy way and it's hard to listen to. Add in the 5,000 fellas, fellas, boys, boys and the way he annoyingly cuts off guests and ends interviews prematurely and it's just bad radio.

Irv is the best thing about the whole group (sad) and he can't stay on subject. I also can't stand how when they have guests on, Irv doesn't know how to ask a question. He never asks questions of guests and let's them talk. He usually says something like "boy you know, I've seen you out there blocking and you just follow Nalen and if he gets his block you take it and if he doesn't you cut it back side. That's how they do it around here."

.....awkward silence.

or "You know when they're throwing you inside you hit 'em every time. You just stay in hard on that one and you can hit it."

...."uh, yeah."

When their show comes on I usually listen for the first five minutes and then get sick and change it to ESPN radio.

You're dead on in every way. Your specific complaint about williams - the innacuracy in his same old bitter diatribes, are exactly correct. Same with armstrong's silly sing-song voices and how he cuts off guests. Irv is the best of the bunch. It's impossible to dislike the guy on a personal level, it's just that time has passed him by.

On my ride home yesterday I reached an all time frustration with these guys, especially Armstrong and Joe.

When they pulled Armstrong into the show, I thought this was a good move to help out the old timers. Irv often loses himself in thought and Joe is just a bitter old man.

Armstrong has really dissapointed me. He's really lacking in material and it's the same crap over and over. He doesn't put in the time to research topics and provide any intellectual insight. When he does offer a perspective he often times leaves out critical data to oppose his view.

I wish the OM guys had their own show!

Irv and Joe have a fantastic knowledge of Colorado sports and Colorado athletes, they really do know their history.

But, other than that, they are OLD! Their show is the same old crap day after day--AND I HAVEN'T LISTENED TO THEIR SHOW SINCE I LEFT COLORADO IN 2003!

I did call their show one time when they were talking about professional athletes from Colorado. Amazingly, they had never heard of a pitcher that i went to HS with in Colorado Springs and he pitched for like 3 or 4 different teams in the majors. His name is Dave Mlicki, and they had never heard of the guy. I think the last team he pitched for was the Detroit Tigers.

Anyhow, I found it odd that they did not know of him.

The funny thing about these guys is that the say the same thing every day. They need Lou from Littleton back to the FAN to at least challenge them with his homerism. Maybe then they'd be forced to do some research. I think they're too old to stand and actually watch a practice! You never hear them talk about what they personally saw at TC? WTF?

I'm so tired of listening to all of them sit around and pat each other on the back about the same idea they've had for the last 3 months.....

Not sure that I get your point. You're happy that people don't listen to them?
You work for 1600 or their other competition?

I liked Mark Mosier(sp?) he was tolerable. I could not really take too much of Lou from Littleton and his east coast accent.

The Fan was strange. I started listening to it when I worked in Boulder back in the mid 1990s. It was new, they had good programming and their enthusiasm and on air personalities were refreshing. But what sucked is, they'd have a morning show with a host or two, and run that show for like 4 or 5 months, and then whammo! They'd change the show's hosts without warning. So, if you like the host or hosts, too bad, they're gone!

It was frustrating as hell b/c The Fan kept changing things up. They always seemed to replace good hosts with bad hosts, and move the good hosts to different time slots or shows.

By the time I left Colorado, so much of the format had changed for the worst, that it was frustrating to really get into the programming.

I'm glad Mosier went to hockey, HIS voice annoys me! I thought Lou was hilarious. A homer but I thought it complimented the conversation/banter of the show......

Yah, at least Lou was positive. He is a self admitted homer of the highest caliber. But, he stays on target when discussing teams. He didn't seem to get too side tracked with crapola.

It's shocking to me a city such as Denver, with all the teams and die hard fans, doesn't have a decent sports radio station.

I couldn't agree more with about every post and comment. Another issue is they never let the caller talk. The constantly interupt and talk over the caller. It's not just Irv, Joe and Jim either. I used to enjoy Scott and Al but even they have totally lost track and banter back and forth trying to be funny. I won't even bother b****ing about Sandy Clough and Evans.

Amen brother. However, Lou wasn't afraid to come on the show on Monday morning and say he saw "no heart" on the field though. When they sucked for lack of tryin' he was the first to call 'em out.

I just think he would compliment the bitterness of the afternoon show well. The other option? Get a better team in general! I think the old timers have incriminating film on the management at The Fan, cause they SUCK.....

It's pretty sobering when Sandy Clough is the Fan's most intelligent and knowledgeable personality (and I use the word grudgingly).

So true. And that's if they take any callers at all. They keep giving out the phone number over and over and then never take a call! Why waste your time? I guess they'd rather listen to themselves.
