Default OT: Clay Aiken a dad

ET: It's a boy for Clay Aiken
Aug. 8, 2008, 1:18 PM EST

Entertainment Tonight and Zap2It.com

Congratulations go out to Clay Aiken because there's a brand new Claymate in town.

The "American Idol" crooner and his friend Jaymes Foster, welcomed a baby boy Friday morning, Aug. 8, the singer announced on his website, ClayOnline.com.

"HE'S HERE!" Aiken writes. "My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.) Parker was born at a hospital in North Carolina just this morning at 8:08 AM. Wow... 8:08 ..08/08/08."

Little Parker was named for Aiken's mother Faye, whose middle name is Parker. The child weighed 6 lbs, 2 oz at birth and measured 19 inches.

"The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy," Aiken continues. "Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also. The Aiken family, the Foster family, and the Parker family are all thrilled."

Aiken, 29, and Foster, 50, are not romantically linked, but met and became friends on "American Idol." They conceived the child through artificial insemination and will raise him together. Jaymes is the sister of record mogul David Foster.

Aiken's fourth album, "On My Way Here," only debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard charts in May. He recently toured with the Monty Python musical "Spamalot" as the brave Sir Robin.

Still doesn't top Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes on the bizarre-o-meter.

I can't be the only one who wondered, for a good part of the article, whether Jaymes was a woman...

...not that there's anything wrong with that...

So what...these two were both 8 lbs. 8 oz.

Fri Aug 8, 10:01 PM ET

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. - Meet Hailey Jo Hauer and Xander Jace Riniker, both born at 8:08 a.m. on 8/8/08, weighing 8 pounds, 8 ounces, in neighboring states.

Xander, born at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is the eighth grandchild for his mother's parents. And he's not the only one in his family with an unusual birthday: His 2-year-old brother, Kael, was born on 4/5/06.

Lindsey Hauer thought staff at Lake Region Hospital in Minnesota were joking when they told her the time of her daughter's birth. And then she got a call from the birthing suite noting Hailey's weight.

Nurse Jenny Harstad joked that she tried to shrink the baby to 18 inches from her actual 19.5 inches.

Several hospital staff members in Minnesota pledged to buy lottery tickets. And Chad Riniker, Xander's father, said that eight hadn't been his lucky number before, but that now he was thinking about buying a lottery ticket.

"I just might," he said. "If nothing else, with four children I should probably play the lottery."
