Default If the Broncos start the season 0-2....

or 0-3, the season will be tough to salvage. If that happens, will you hold Marshall responsible?

Last season I remember having the same thoughts with Jared Allen and his suspension. I thought he could single handedly put the Chiefs in a situation where it would be almost impossible to recover.

As it was however, they didn't stand a chance either way.

What is the general thought of the Bronco fans and the effect of starting 0-3? Is the season pretty much over at that point?

No it wont. We'll win 10 games this season, even if you scratch the first two.

KC - 2 Wins
Oakland - 1 Win (if we lose the first)
Miami - Win
NYJ - Win
Buffalo - Win on Firedrill kick again
NE - Win
Atlanta - Win
Carolina - Win
TB - Win

Thats saying we lose all the hard ones like SD and NO too. I think we'll beat NO, and possibly steal one from SD.

I would like to say it is a team game but it depends on how they lose.

If they have a game like last year Chuggers game (pick one) and last years Detroit game then he won't be missed.

I won't blame Marshall for the losses, although one can't help but wonder if maybe the games would be different if we have him. It's a little too early to tell I guess. We'll have to wait and see.

I wouldn't hold Marshall responsible.

I think that our offense will still be relatively dynamic, with a decent running game and royal, stokley, jackson and scheff doing enough to keep the passing game respectable but not remarkable.

If the Broncs go 0-2 I'll be looking at defense with all the changes that the broncs have had.. esp up front.

Haven't the Broncos also had a lot of changes up front on the O?

No, I would not hold Marshall responsible.

To me, starting the season 0-3 would be a difficult to overcome but not impossible. However, the pressure would become more intense than it already is. Shanahan has set the bar...playoffs or bust.

It would be interesting to see which players would begin to wilt under the strain, especially with the loss of team leaderhip the past two years. I can easily envision Shanahan stalking the sidelines ready to explode.

On the flip side, I think Cutler, Scheffler, Marshall and the rest of the core are strong enough to handle adversity. Cutler is overcoming his disease, Scheffler has fought through injury, while Marshall put up all-pro numbers while dealing with his own personal demons. I think they will all be stronger for it.

Chargers are usually slow starters and we are fast, so I think that we might get both. If we get both wins, without B-Marsh, I think we might be going on a magical ride.

I hate talking hypotheticals. The season over at three games is a joke. The Giants started the season 1-2 so that shows what a stupid idea that starting slow can ruin your season is. If we are a bad enough team to allow one player out of the lineup that isn't the QB to ruin our season, then we weren't going to do anything in the post season anyway.

I just don't see this as a breakout year for the Broncos. No I won't hold Marshall responsible. I still think he caused his issues and his year this year will be subpar due to his lack of focus...but in the end he's just a kid and I don't think its fair to dump the offense working or failing on him. I do expect Cutler to start living up to his hype and have a much better season this year, both with the diabetes under control and him knowing the routine much better. I still see this as a 7-9; 8-8 team...maybe they win 9 games and I eat crow with rugbythug and my bet with him. We still have a couple years where we need to address some major holes and I can't lay that on Brandon.

Now wait a second.

No one said the season would definately be over. However, the Giants are more the exception than the rule. I think you will find that more teams starting 0-3 fail than teams that start 1-2. If you're saying it's just as easy to have a successful season starting at 0-3 as a team that starts 2-1, I would disagree with you.

Anyway, the question was more about Marshalls effect on the team and being held responsible. Not whether the Broncos chances of recovering were possible. Of course it's possible. But very difficult.

i dont care if the broncos go 0-16..........at least we have comfort in knowing we aren't the chiefs or raiders

If they do start the season 0-2, their record will still be better than the squaw's record last season.

Man, I'd love to have your optimism. I sure as hell would like to know how we defeat New England. I mean, are you banking on Brady, Welker, Moss and Seymour all to be injured for that game?

seriously we do match up well against NE........it seems like no matter how good they are....we always beat them.........except for that one game where we were up like 20 pts at halftime and lost.........but still it seems like they have to get lucky to beat us.

The real story is that we're going to win or lose the first three games with our defense. We've got enough weapons to stay competitive on offenses in those games. Our defense (or lack thereof) has been... and will be the key.

That said, Marshall still ****ed his teammates and fans with his stupidity.

the only way i would hold him responsible would be if the team lost games he was suspended for by less than a TD, because i feel he can be an almost a TD a game player in this league

What a stupid thread. Why would anyone waste any amount of time discussing how they would react to an 0-2 or an 0-3 start?
