As I mentioned in another thread, I'm considering third party this year. Both of the "major" candidates are horrible choices...

Obama ...... Bob Barr will lead us down the same road ..... He is still a republican , married 3 times , paid for an abortion for one of his wives , went ape**** over Clinton, then had the nerve to preach family values ........ Barr is a snake

The reasons I will vote for Obama are;

1. I do not believe he is bought and paid for by special interests.

2. He is refreshingly intelligent enough to know he doesn't have all the answers and is smart enough to recognize wise council when he encounters it.

3. God doesn't tell him what to do via a voice in his head.

4.I believe he will be a president for the people for a change.

How does voting for an evil (Bush, say) help?

Rather ironic coming from someone down in Mexico in his hidey-hole.

Write in - Ron Paul

No chance in hell of winning, but at least I can say I voted for who I want as president.

Write in someone you think would make a good president at least that would take you out of the large group that says they do not care enough to vote which sends a signal to the Bushes of the world they can do what ever they want because the voters do not care enough to vote. A vote for some one not on the ballot sends the message you care but do not like the limited choices. Isn't that a much better message to send with your vote?

I highly doubt that anyone in the goverment looks any deeper than who actually wins the election. Although you make a great point there really is no difference between me writing in the name "Bullwinkle" and not showing up to vote at all. In the end the overall result of being overlooked is the same.

I do think they keep stats of "other" votes and when the numbers are analyzed and strategies are formed for the next general election it does get considered, anyway at least you will have expressed your displeasure of the choices available and the short comings of the current system and not fallen into the place of apathy so many others have.
