Champ #1 for current corners, and currently ranked #9 for all time... I think many of the voters weren't sure if he was eligible for the all-time list yet... expect that to spike into the top 3 all time minimum when he retires. |

We are talking about football players right?!?!?
Allow me... Darrell Green. Like Junior Seau at No. 20, cornerback Darrell Green became an NFL institution by spending so many years in the NFL that it was hard to remember when he first arrived. In Green's case, he joined the Redskins in 1983 -- and spent 20 seasons with the same team. For a guy whose ongoing employment hinges on speed and agility, the fact that he could remain on the one squad's roster for 20 seasons is amazing. The reality that 10 of those seasons came in the free-agency era, which has resulted in many a veteran being purged from his team prematurely, boggles the mind. Along the way, Green won two Super Bowl rings, and played a key role in the march to the team's 1987 NFL championship with a game-changing punt return against the Bears. At a mere 5-9, Green was for years one of the fastest players in the NFL, winning on multiple occasions a made-for-TV sprinting competition with other fleet-footed football players. Green most certainly will land in the Hall of Fame in 2008, his first year of eligibility. He deserves it, and he definitely deserves a spot among the best 25 players of the past 25 years. He might just be one of the best 25 ever. http://www.profootballtalk.com/No19Green.htm I know it florio, but its his best work hes ever written. At least he got this one right for once. Heres Green chasing down one of the fastest players in NFL history as a rookie. yeah, a complete football player. Just click on the clip you want. http://www.darrellgreen.com/for_the_...all_clips.html Does anyone have any similiar clips on "Neon" making plays like this? or even tackling, ever? |

Yeah DG is classic. But I guess I'm a homer cause I seriously think Champ Bailey is the best corner ever.

An all-time Broncos corner list would be pretty fierce with Champ Bailey and Louis Wright.

We should make this a tradition we draft a running back use him for a few years pad his numbers a bit and trade him to the Skins for a CB who has just enough experience to be done with growing pains and be the best in the game. It seems that between DG and Champ they draft CB's well.

no other corner has ever had the impact on a game the way he did... i don't care if he could tackle or not...he literally shut down half the field when he was on it... i don't care that he had less WR friendly rules either...it is what it is... primetime was the best ever at his position... ok haters flame away...lol... |

Champ will only get to the top of that list by winning and getting picks in the Super Bowl.

Oh, and he couldnt knock down a girlscout in an elevator! Guy was a total and complete p***Y as a football player. Great athlete though. Multi talented, like Elway, and could cover with the best. made alot of plays on STs too! I think he was a even better PR/KR guy than a CB, myself! Really good! I would put Darrell Green ahead of him simply because he could do it all, and he was the complete player. Played forever too. 1 Green 2 Champ 3 Wright 4 Neon ( i like to mispell) |

There's been so many good corners in the NFl it's hard to rank the top 10 all time, seeings how the rules change so often also. Champ diminished himself in my eyes in the AFCCG at Mile High in 2006. He missed that easy pick 6 in the first Q, then got suckered for 2 TD's. Maybe my memory is faulty, did Champ get attacked for 2 TD's or only one in that game? Champ is pretty darn good though. Definitely a guy you want on your team. If he can avg 8 picks/yr for the next 5 yrs he has the NFL record for INT's.
Here's where Champ ranks right now: Rank Player (age), + - HOFer, Bold - Active Int Years Teams 1. Paul Krause+ 81 1964-1979 2TM 2. Emlen Tunnell+ 79 1948-1961 2TM 3. Rod Woodson 71 1987-2003 4TM 4.
