June 29: Barack Obama delivers a speech on patriotism in Independence, Mo. Listen to the entire speech.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540...59707#25459707 I think this will be one of the more important speeches in the election; I think Obama keeps revisiting these points again and again. Not quite as well delivered as some of his others, but my favorite content speech I've seen so far, even though the speech is about an abstraction. |

I was trying to watch this and the power went out. This is actually a pretty important speech for people who are not familiar with Barack. I talked to one angry soldier who was clueless that Hillary was not even running. He had some pretty wild ideas and the look on his face told me that kid needed some real psychological attention.

Patriotism is like sexiness. If you have to tell people you have it, you don't.

Absolutely awesome speech. He comes with substance and integrity.
Instead of a quick cute one-liner that is neither funny nor really that clever, made by so many politicians and bloggers today-- along with quite a few posters on some (Uh-emmm) various bulletin boards... |

Its funny that people attack Obama for his patriotism... In questioning one's Patriotism, they probably should first be looking at anyone GUILTY of voting for BUSH... which would probably be themselves...
I can't really think of a more un-patriotic act than voting for BUSH in either of his terms. Last edited by Play2win; 07-01-2008 at 05:12 AM.. |

![]() I liked Obama's statement about how patriotism should never be defined as loyalty to any one leader, government, or policy. The right-wing idiots who slandered anyone who disagreed with Bush's decision to invade Iraq as "traitors" and "America haters" demonstrated that they had absolutely no clue about either patriotism or the ideals upon which America was founded. |
