Poll included.
OK. I love Brandon Marshall and think the sky is the limit, but I am sick and tired of his ****. Some time during this season, he will be looking for his future contract numbers, which should be either: a) very large because he is back to form, or b) not so large because he will never fully recover. So. let's assume he makes a full recovery. Spends a couple games on the bench because of his DUI and b**** beatings. Still has a 1,000 yard season with 90 catches. Who would you rather have on the team for the next few years. Brandon Marshall or Chad Johnson? Brandon is on the cheap through 2009, but what is the real cost of having him on the team? We would have to start paying for Chad earlier, but both his hands (and his mouth) are in working order. So, pick your poison. Our beloved offseason thug, or a loud mouthed showboat that stays clean off the field. |

Brandon Marshall's current legal problems are not as bad as they are made out to be. you can chalk them up to immaturity, and at his age that is fine. if he were a veteran doing these things, then you can worry. Johnson has been a world class jackass for years, Marshall has made a few mistakes as a young man.
also didn't Rod Smith in his first year or 2 have a few legal problems and then straighten himself out? give Marshall some time before he is thrown into a discussion of the turds of the league. Also based on talent i would take a young Marshall over a Chad in his 30's |

I've always liked Marshall, watched his games at UCF. But his act is getting old and needs to do a 180 if he wants to get that big contract and stay in denver. I'll pass on "85" as well, we need a third option for this poll.

I don't know probably Chad Johnson because he stays out of trouble off the field. I think the better poll would be how long will Marshall be with Denver. Personally I would say not long.

Chad is a jack ass and will be a jack ass until he retires. BM still has time to right the boat.

Chad Johnson--proven production year in and year out and probably 4 or 5 less arrests....Case closed (if they were the same age)

If they were the same age, Chad. He might have an ego, but he's not likely to get suspended by the league and has shown himself to be a very hard worker over the years despite his showiness.
If BM does get himself suspended at some point either now or in the future than it can be boiled down to the equation of Any warm body on the field > BM on the sideline That being said, Chad is turning 30 soon I think. Won't be long until he loses a step 2 or 3 seasons. I wonder if anyone thinks BM will be with the Broncos when he's 30? |

B Marsh... the guy is a douchebag off the field, but at least he isn't an outright lockeroom cancer. Last I heard, he is still on speaking terms with his quarterback and coaching staff. And I absoloutely love watching B Marsh get excited about throwing a good block on a linebacker....

And Dr Bronc totally nailed it. BMarsh isn't afraid to throw a block and enjoys it. Chad Johnson would be too afraid to get dinged even if it meant a TD would come of it. |

Chad Johnson does fit the broncos system. He doesn't go across the middle and refuse to give up his body for the running game.

Oh, the REV is going to have a field day with this one. On a side note, did ARI finally sign WR Anquan Boldin to a long term deal? Whats his status? Anyone? |

I actually went with Marshall only because he hasn't brought his problems into the locker room (yet). If he has another fantastic year, you can bet he'll be asking for more money, though I don't blame him for that. At least he's not holding out to be traded so he can "win" more.

Wrong on this one Buff. You don't bring in a locker room cancer when you are trying to rid yourself of them after an infestation. Its not biased to say that Marshall is a beast who gives it his all on the field. Its fact, Chad well he takes plays off. I don't want that on my team.

I haven't read all about the Marshall situation, but is he likely to be suspended for any time, or been said to?

First off, Marshall HAS brought his issues into the locker room. The first time Cutler felt compelled to comment on Marshall publicly, that became an issue between teammates and, therefore, a potentially locker room dividing issue. It hasn't exploded because we've all been fed the, "he was upset at first but we talked" line as if everything has been ironed out but there will always be the players who believe the player is letting down the org. and the players who will defend these kinds of people to the bone. The only thing Chad did to solidify himself and permanently damage his reputation in everyone's eyes was to publicly bash his own team but you know there's plenty of players willing to brush that off with the old, "this is a business and you've gotta look out for yourself" claims.
And people still willing to write this off as a simple shakedown... Brandon is just as guilty in this as Javon was guilty for getting himself mugged. Neither have been proven to have outright committed an illegal act but both put themselves in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with people they should know better about. The first incident was the cell phone (as I recall), and if he had been completely innocent then there's no damn way I'd still be with someone who had gotten my name drug through the mud. Instead, he stays with the girl and continues to spew the, "she's after my money" line everytime she calls the cops. I think I recall hearing some old line about how a girl having to have whiskey flavored nipples to be worth that headache... The more likely scenario is that both camps are exaggerating a bit and he probably did more than he should have but she wants the attention so she's embellishing it. Unfortunately, people around here want to act like we're the convicting authority on this and want to scream "wait for the jury!" rather than opening their eyes and accepting that whatever happened may not be a convictable offense (money heals alot of wounds and makes people forget alot of things) but that doesn't change that a bad decision has put Marshall in this in the first place and this is far from Brandon's first bad decision. This is the same crowd though who screamed injustice when Dizon was pulled over for going the wrong way on a freakin' one way street and claimed he had done nothing wrong so it takes no outside consulting to know that the fans of the Mane are willing to impose their judgements while wearing their favorite jerseys under the robe... Brandon has not been found guilty of any crimes, as such he is presumed innocent.
I'll keep Brandon. |

I think there is some orange colored glasses in action to say that BM doesn't have the potential to become as much of a distraction in the locker room as Chad.
Give BM another productive year and even half the media coverage a TO or CJ gets and you'd have more locker room disruption than you could poke a stick at. Throw in an agent change (Drew R) and BAM! You'd have Chad but with off field issues as well. If BM wasn't already a least a bit of a distraction, Cutler wouldn't have vented his frustrations to the media like he did. Don't get me wrong, we have Brandon, and I'm pulling for him and will so long as he wears the orange and blue but I'm nervous about how long he'll be on the team. |
