Stanford v Miami

Student athletes v athletes......a contrast both on and off the field. Canes are littered with major league talent across the diamond, had an advantage over Stanford at every position except catcher. However....

Stanford 8, Miami 3 (Miami ELIMINATED)

The Cardinal hit better, pitched better, and defense wasn't even close. I know the Canes are better than they showed, I mean they only lost 10 games all season...that's remarkable!

But last night....Canes played tight, sloppy, scared.

Simply put, Canes got b**** slapped in every which way!

Stanford.....winners in the classroom, winners on the field!

Nailed it!
Although i will say i loved watching the MIA vs FLA ST rivaly. That was cool.
And STAN are just in a rythm and playing lights out. They could be beating MLB teams right now. WHo knows MIA could get hot at any minute and light it up!

well, MIA will not be getting hot at any minute, since they are ELIMINATED!

And the only lighting up they'll be doing is to their blunts!

Nah, i meant a team could get hot at any minute in the series. Theres always a team like UCI or ORE last year that just suddenly light it up and there hard to stop. Dont look past MIA, they could be good for years to come.

The Stanford/Georgia rematch is going to be interesting to say the least, their first game was fantastic.

It sure will. Two very solid teams across the board. Stanford will be starting their ace, Jeremy Bleich, which is key. He's nails, a tall lefty who was drafted in the first round by the yankees (sandwich pick). They thought about starting him on 3 days rest v Miami, but resisted and it was clearly the right decision. Now he'll be fully rested and ready to go v UGA.

Go Cardinal!

Hopefully Stanford loses in the third game of the CWS Championship Series in the bottom of the ninth on a horrible call.

I love how Smelvin likes to run his mouth here, but is not willing to say the same thing to his own family members faces, who are from Coral Gables.

Oh you better believe I talk trash to them. We have a very nice family rivalry going. None of us have forgotten when Carlos Quentin lost the ball in the sky in the 2003 title game, which led to a huge inning in a 12-1 Miami romp.

This time it was payback.

And how sweet it was. This Miami team is absolutely loaded, arguably one of the best Cane teams ever. And they have nothing to show for it, with the season ending at the hands of an overachieving Stanford squad that was picked to finish 6th in the Pac 10, and was 3 outs away from losing to UC Davis in an elimination game in the Regionals.

Stanford is now 5-0 in elimination games....a remarkable feat for anyone. This team has heart, is gritty, and performs the best when the pressure is at its peak. The Canes...not so much. When the pressure mounted, they wilted. Against Stanford and UGA.

There are probably 15 teams that didn't make it to Omaha that are more talented than this Stanford squad.....which makes it all the more satisfying to see them b**** slap the most talented team in the nation.

Have a nice off-season Canes...stay out of trouble!

My brother in law and nephew will be in the front row behind home plate! Look for a skinny man and little six year old boy wearing Gators gear!

Gators? They weren't invited to this party!

5 teams left, and none of them are from the state of Florida. :-)

Even when my beloved cardinal lose, we still win.

I can't believe the clutch in our baseball team this year. i wish the softball team would take notice. Not just hitting, but TIMELY hitting.

I went in 95. What a cool experience! If you have the opportunity to go, don't pass it up. That year I got to see future stars like: Todd Helton (Tenn), JD Drew (FSU), Mark Kotsay (Fullerton), and Jacque Jones (USC)...just to name a few. Kotsay was the Golden Spikes award winner. He broke pitching and hitting records!

Don't forget about Ana Benson's husband, Kris (Clemson), Russ Ortiz (Oklahoma), Morgan Ensberg (USC) and Jason Giambi's brother, Jeremy (CSF) also participated in the '95 series.

Yes sir. It was a pretty good year for talent. Forgot about Ensberg.

I wanna have sex with Anna and then punch her in the face and tell her I hate her.

The reason we went was for a huge tourney called the Omaha Super Series. I played against a few future big leaguers. Sean Burroughs was one. He was a few years removed from the LLWS and Letterman. His celebrity status was still high at 15 years old. He talked a lot of ****. So, of course, we got in a fight with his SoCal team and my buddy dropped him. It was classic!

Must have made the ground rumble...he was one pudgy little kid. He then developed into a pudgy MLB player who couldn't hit his weight. Sean Burroughs was a huge bust.

We played him again in the Connie Mack Regional in Seattle when we were 18 years old. You could tell he was special. He swung like a pro and really wasn't all that pudgy anymore... more stocky than pudgy. That big league pitching makes a lot of guys look very ordinary I imagine. He didn't hold the Padres 3B job for very long. Definitely a bust.
