Default .500? Broncos laughing at the notion

.500? Broncos laughing at the notion

As a rule, NFL players and coaches don't talk about gambling.

Until they're former NFL players and coaches, that is. Then they'll tell you they knew the point spread every week.

I only mention it because, during the Broncos' recently concluded mini-camps, I happened to tell a handful of players and coaches that the Las Vegas wise guys don't think much of their chances in 2008.

Case in point: The Las Vegas Hilton, the world's largest sports book, has established the Broncos' projected win total at 7.5. A losing season, in other words.

Makes sense, I suppose. The Broncos were 9-7 two years ago and 7-9 last year. Why wouldn't the boys in Vegas think they would be somewhere in between this season?

For the record, but off the record, the Broncos are shaking their heads at the notion of another losing season. They believe.

They believe people are underestimating them. They believe they're going to be dramatically improved. They believe they're going to make the playoffs.

But then, isn't that what May and June are for? Isn't that a time to be optimistic, when you don't have any fresh injuries and haven't lost a game?

The trick is to keep believing in November and December. Obviously, the Broncos have lost the faith in the past two seasons.

This is good, the boys need to keep hearing these jabs and disrespect, all warrented of course but never the less fuel for their fire...

The line has little to do with what Vegas thinks about Denver, and everything to do with balancing the betting.

Exactly. The line is Vegas' bet. They are going to make their money and so this almost suggests that Vegas is pretty sure we're going to be at least at .500.

Mocks lock for 08: Denver will win at LEAST 8 games. I think we might do it even if Jay goes down, might. Jay will lead us to 10 wins this year if he and marshall are healthy.

Were going something like 8-8, still a couple of years out from being where the team wants.

If anyone should wear white in their wedding it should be Bob. However his right hand should wear a red glove.

Rugbythug...hope we still have the 9 win season bet. This team has a long way to go to be competitive with the play-off calibre teams IMO. Just glad Lepsis and Gold are gone at least we are headed the right direction.

Id go with 10 wins, maybe 11. We have a schedule with a lot of bad teams on it.

We'll roll the Chefs twice again this year. Denver is demonstrably better...the Chefs unloaded their best player and added absolutely nothing.

Nice the Broncos can laugh at the notion of a .500 finish, thats exactly where we've been the last two seasons and I found nothing fun about watching it. Experts may not have alot on the ball but i think they have this team pegged.

I agree with henry...but Javon when playing brought a serious talent to the roster. He was a special player with top shelf tools, something we currently are lacking IMO...too bad he's all about himself and not a good team fit.
